According the guide you shared, handwelt is the same as Goodyear welt, only done by hand:
"There is not much to say about Hand Welting, because it is essentially the same technique like Goodyear. As the name implies, the main difference is that after lasting the shoe, the welting is done by hand instead of machine."

So Goodyear welting can be done by machine or hand.

in my country few years ago MTO shoemakers would proudly call their hand welt as GYW construction although done by hand since they probably didn't have the machine at the time, as now since hand welting is a thing, then they now call it handwelted. probably cost the same since wage doesn't change much here, but surely can hike up the price for international market, in the end the quality of the machine is guaranteed, while the quality of hand stitching is only as good as the person's skill or time pressure he has at the time.

my custom boot is handwelted, the thread sure is thick and double thread per hole, but the stitches is probably the widest step I ever seen probably 5mm from hole to hole. and it costed me less than $200 few years ago.

on wallet sometime when hand stitched they can use sinew or artificial sinew instead of waxed thread where machine cannot use perhaps there is the advantage of hand sewing so they can use alternative stronger material than thread but can not glide as smoothly for machine so it has to be pulled by hand? just my speculation again.

Lucchese 2000 Ropers today in black kangaroo. Again my "preferred" style of boots.
Interesting story to these ones. In 2009 I was knocked off my 2006 35th Anniversary Harley Dyna, "side wiped".
By a 75 year old catholic priest , classic "failure to yield" from my left scenario. With an "auto" licence driving a manual car!
He somersaulted my bike onto the median strip and put me over the bonnet breaking the right heel off these Ropers.
The Kangaroo Ropers saved my right foot from any further damage, but my butt cheeks were hanging out my Levi 604's.
(Not a good look !). I had the boots rebuilt at a local traditional bootmaker , both heels so they would match.

Glad you pulled through that accident. The left turn from oncoming traffic and the right turn into your direction of traffic are two of the hazards we deal with all the time. Nice boots too.

Wearing my new Wesco Warren boot in navy waxed flesh from Standard and Strange.

A very comfortable boot right out of the box. I wanted these from the moment I saw them but I was trying to be a little smarter with my money considering the pandemic.
That worked for me up until I read one of the weekly newsletters that S&S sends out to folks on their mailing list. It detailed how the owners, Jeremy and Neil, had worked with a group that provides online therapy and arranged for one month of free sessions for anyone in the community who needed them. I was pretty blown away by that thoughtful and selfless gesture on their part and I told myself that I wanted to put my money where my heart was and purchase those boots after all.

Just had a flashback of my first decent boots. Can't even remember what brand they were, but the looked exactly like that, same leather and all. I know I paid a lot for them and I liked 'em.

You're right, those are exactly the same. I already thought they were a bit out of place in crockett and Jones offering. The brown cheaneys are nice too btw. Crazy how Ralph Lauren puts their name on it and doubles the price. These were MRSP £800. (I got a good deal because fiends & family discount)

I was quite interested in RRL footwear but could never bring myself to pay the premium. The only RRL boots I ever bought were the RRL M43 repro by Corcoran. I bought them quite a while back at the local RRL shop during end of season sale. Those were the only boots available with my size. I remember trying on the Engineer boots too but the only pair left was in C width. The problem is I had to wait until the very end of the end of season sale so I could also take advantage of the extra staff discount back then. Most items were 70-80% off with the staff discount.

Their purple label shoes used to be made by Edward green or Gaziano & girling. I used to work at RL as a side job when I was still studying. End of season staff sale on Gaziano & girling, those were the days
