First up is my second Buco, a pre-1957 Buco J-24 size 46 with the first blue horsehide label. I received this jacket in mint condition about 25 years ago from an eBay auction. It came with a nice golden brow removable collar now lost. I am more of a size 44 with original Bucos but this jacket works with layering which I need to keep the wool liner away from my skin.

J-27 with Buco's 3rd tag ist horsehide tag size 46. This jacket is like new not even broken in and fit large on me. I picked this up about 3 years ago from eBay for $600 plus tax and delivery. The seller had a J-P27 size 44, my size, for sale last year and offered it to me for $650 or $700. I got his email and was going to offer a private deal to save sales tax but hesitated about the expense already owning a J-27 dumb me it sold. J-27 was Buco's civilian model of the J-P27 police jacket. The horsehide is stiffer than the horsehide on my later J-24

Buco sport jacket size 44 with Buco's 2nd blue horsehide tag. I had this same jacket in steer hide size 46 that I sold after I purchased the horsehide jacket. I got the horsehide jacket cheap and sold the steer hide jacket within 10 minutes on eBay also cheap. Wish I had posted it here first. It sold on eBay while I entering the jacket in the FL classifies.

That 71 is awesome. It would be cool if LW made a repro.

Edit: $300. Wow! Really amazing.

IMO Buco made fine jackets into the early 60s. There are reasons their jackets are in high demand from collectors and I do not buy into their demand is only because of Rin highlighted Buco in his first book. Rin hight light dozens of jackets. Buco came out with iconic designs and patterns that are still copied by the best current jacket makers. Sears choose Buco for their prime label jackets Allstate

J-100 dated at 1960 cream color with Buco's four tag and 1st steer hide tag sie 44. I purchased this from TFL after I had sold my size 46 black steer hide J-100 that was made at a later date them the cream J-100. My first J-100 had the 60s talon tear drop zip on the pocket. My black J-100 was in excellent condition when I purchased it and I wore it hard for 13 years. I had it re-lined and 2 or 3 shoulder seams re-stiched. I sold it for enough to buy the better-fitting size 44 cream jacket that came with less wear.

You sir, are killing it. You, TM and Mysteryo have incredible collections of vintage gear. I’m jealous. I want to see the SGs and Cals now lol. Whatever else you’ve got squirreled away.

I welcome anyone to post original Buco jackets here
In particular, I would like a comparison with BloodEagle's J-22 and know how it was identified as a J-22 and not a J-24. I believe the J-24 superseded the J-22 and J-23 with similar back lengths. The J-21 was the first and a shorter jacket

What year was the first Buco catalog? or what was the first year they produced MC jackets? I know that Allstate (Buco) jackets show up in the 1949 Sears catalog.

I just saw the 51 and 52 catalogs describing both Wool lined and Rayon lined jackets available at the same time. What year did they use Nylon?

There are reasons their jackets are in high demand from collectors and I do not buy into their demand is only because of Rin highlighted Buco in his first book. Rin hight light dozens of jackets. I agree 100%. They are highlighted because they made great, enduring jackets.

I am thinking in duplicating the belts and the collars. I have sourced the very hard to find special rivets for the belts. Also, I have many 50s-60s belts.
For the collar, I have plenty of material (50s mouton) to make a very good representation of the originals. Buco made nice collars. They have many United Carr snaps. For me, it has been hard to locate United Carr brand, so I have located several lots of 50s Scovil snaps with the very same metal finish as the United Carr brand. In the past, I have made several collars but I was not happy with the thread I used (Tex 70 Gov. bonded nylon from A&E) I am in the hunt for glazed cotton 16-3 thread in khaki, black, OD and natural colors. I believed buco used Khaki as their main color thread.
IF ANYONE KNOW OR HAS SOME HIGH DOME EPAULET BARS PLEASE, LET ME KNOW. I HAVE TWO JACKETS IN NEED OF THEM.
Lastly, If you have any more or different information about anything related to the belts or collars, please let me know.
