Are these old Levi's good quality? The two ones I handled felt very underwhelming.. or are these just collectable because the brand is a big name today?

Brown Vanson Raid in a 38. Talon zips. If it were a sz smaller I wouldn't be sharing ;D

I had one in black, sold the bike, sold the jacket. New bike now and I want it back.

"Brown" is quite a stretch in this case ain't it? I had a Raid and personally didn't like it too much. A model E is far superior in my opinion, especially in the smaller / slimmer sizes.

That jacket is black, is it not? Lol

I owned a size 38 briefly and it was not a very good pattern IMHO. Crazy wide shoulders, long in the body and very trim at the hips. Fit weird all over.

Ya I don't know, if it's brown it's very dark.

I initially wasn't sure of the fit but once I was riding in the jacket it made sense. I'm not tall and things are almost always long on me, but I don't remember that being the case with mine in a 36. I'm a drop 8/9 and found the wide shoulder narrow waist to be perfect. The Model E is for me is just heinous. Epaulets, exposed snaps, giant flap coin pocket, belt AND laced flank adjustments... it's all so extra. like saying "In case you don't know, I ride a motorcycle. If you couldn't tell by the two-wheeled motorized vehicle of which I am upon my jacket will dispel any doubts you may have."

The Model E is for me is just heinous.

To each his own, as always For me it's the ultimate cross-zip, off or on the bike. But as always with Vanson - can't really go wrong which ever you prefer.

Levi leather jackets were no better than any other jacket made in the bay area. Levi contracted for some of their leather jackets. I have been told this by someone who knows. It makes sense given they were pretty busy making denim and many of the best leather makers were around the corner.

Thanks! Although I'm particularly fond of Taubers jackets...just can't really rock a cross-zip personally. But it looks beautiful!

Not all of us a big macho men here.
I'm a 34-36 and those are the sizes I usually share when I find them.
And some 34 Aero's (like the Barnstormer or Teamster, 50s cuts) are equivalents of size 38 in other brands (especially JP ones).
