I usually offer up a plane ticket to meetup and tell me in person how much I sück. Haven't had any takers yet. Grumps/loners are all over the place. Ignore 'em. They always seem to have the basic inability to ignore a thread/post. Incredible that someone with the means to get here can't do that simple thing. I get accused of being a shill for certain companies, posting in every thread, blah blah blah. I missed the rules that state I had a limit to the number of threads and posts I can contribute to. Maybe "Grumpis Emeritus" could point that out to me? 'Cause if I'm breaking some rule(s) here, I need to know!

I thought of this the same way. I like to know my fellow Loungers on a personal level, those who will give me the opportunity. I just think it's nice to make friendships here. There are many members, that if it weren't for the banter, if they had gotten a hold of me and said they were in Pardeeville and wanted to stop by for a visit. I'd be hesitant. Now, I feel like many members here are more of old friends than anything. You know who you are and you know I'm very fond of you. Many of these people are frequent posters, particularly in this thread.

And for those of us who tend to go off-topic this gives us that somewhere to go that the other Loungers want us to have. It helps me do my best to keep from going off-topic elsewhere as much as I used to.

I don't think so?
I was under the assumption that it is a place to corral much of the riffraff. I am,of course, only an innocent here to recognize and pinpoint those who would dare offer up a daily friendly banter excess. I have no idea what a curmudgeon like Grumpus Emeritus is doing here. Maybe that,in it's self,is somewhat explanatory:D

Absolutely! What is unique about this thread IS (from my viewpoint)...that it offers various subjects that seems to allow us to get to know each other a little better...easier...and has remained 'friendly'. Anyone can always jump in ..or not. Of course other threads should remain more stictly on their certain topic out of consideration for those interests.

Well now there ya go! I think in general, anyone can to some degree find a way to identify the goodness with others, and if those individuals have some common ground, would be able to share a meal, take a cruise, share some life experiences, have fun and even if need be, render help from the goodness of the heart, to those others.

This year I was not on the Lounge, during the Month of June. Had no clue about the Lounge.

Each June, I open my doors at my place on St. Croix, and welcome friends and visitors to stay and enjoy the music, food, to ski, island hop on my cigarette boat, shop, sun tan, or do absolutely nothing at all. I have never had a bad experience within the fine people that have shown up and have some fantastic memories for life as a reward. I am sure this next upcoming June, that will happen and some from here will be smiling while getting a tan there!

I bet if LMH2 took the plunge and tried some sushi like I did in spite of the idea of it grossing me(him) out, he might really enjoy it. Finding the right roll and dipping sauce to go with it is essential.

As for the other topic: Well, personal attacks on the web aren't about anything at the end of the day. They're not Rambo. Toe to toe I know those *upright citizens* wouldn't act the way they do on the interwebs so it is what it is.
I have just one time been to one of those places, what is the name, Benni ha ha's? something like that which serves the Sushi. I looked at it on the plate and just had to decline to even pick the food up to taste it. I know this may sound silly but I had this idea a fish eye was looking right at me, and I just had to pass on eating it.

I'm curious how many non-sushi-eaters like medium rare or rarer steak?

A good starter for getting acclimated to sushi-eating is some lightly-seared (sushi-quality) tuna. :hungry:
Notably said that a good Porterhouse Steak is best served a little bit rare, but you can at least know in the portion aspect of what you see on your plate, the cow is not going to be dancing the tango any more...but with the Sushi, Eel,Octopus, Squid, etc., you will never convince me it is not still wiggling even slightly. Call it a mental block or whatever, I just won't do it. Not even if I had a ice pick to stab it a few times to be sure it was dead, nope!

I usually get the rolls which are different raw fish wrapped with other goodies like seaweed, cream cheese..I don't even know what else, depends on which type of roll you get. Stuff is off the chain!

Then there's fast food sushi....http://youtu.be/jXjxHQQxcLw

Sea weed? Oh no! Now I know I can never get near any of that stuff.

You see, I have a view coming to my mind...Sea Gulls, Droppings...Sea Weed...lord have mercy....

HI

I like rare steak, but it has nothing to do with sushi, it has to do with I can't wait to eat the steak. I was single long enough to acquire the habit of rare steak. My in-laws like to eat warm seasoned shoe leather, so I got my own steak when eating at their house. Grilling for my in-laws takes like an hour, for me 15 minutes or less.

I just finished watching that video, they stopped it short. The next 30 seconds of that they would have shown that Gal that was stuffing her face, "doing the horizontal projectile" over the toilet bowl....(splat)!

Well..There is always OCTOBERFEST...!!
I am hopeful no one would take or find offense with this comment but why use a month for a reason for the party? Geez, I think if someone wants to have a get together, be it a small, private, or large event, just do it! If anyone needed to label it, just say, "Hey, it is today, and we are having today (again perhaps) be blast day! So, let's have a blast!

Meat is very unclean, but it's still worth eating. And when it's cooked you have not much to worry about cept maybe Mad Cow, or those brain worms they found in pork. Pork Ribs sound good, with some fries but what sauce to use hmm.

I certainly wouldn't turn down an invite. I haven't had a vacation in eight years...
