Amy Jeanne, thank you for posting those amazing pics! I enjoyed your comments too. Even the sloppy girl has immaculte hair in the last pic. Are they all from the 30s?

This is my favourite photo of my Mum which was taken when she was 14 years old. It's not a scan so the quality is not the best:

Oh my! Your mother is beautiful. Is the photo colorized? When is it from? Her lipstick looks so pretty and dark.

Thanks Cherry Lips! The photo is sepia toned and was taken in 1947 in a photographers studio here in Dublin that is still going strong!

I think lipstick was all she was allowed to wear as she was getting her portrait done! Her hair is as pin straight as mine is (although she's rocking the blonde these days!) and I love the way she curled it - she used one of those antique irons - when I was a teenager she heated the tongs up on the gas and tried to curl my fringe but instead melted it! She had to cut the melted bits off so I had a lovely lop-sided fringe for quite some time!

I love this latest batch of photos! As someone who has recently given up high heels for daily wear, I love seeing so many women in "sensible shoes"!

Your Mum was a beautiful lady Miss Golightly! :eusa_clap

Thanks HadleyH :) - she's really an incredible lady - she'll be 77 this year and is the most young at heart person I know - incredibly sprightly. Just back from a trip to New York and Washington as well - I hope I'm that full of gusto when I get to her age!!!!!!!!!

I'm loving all these photos you posted, Amy Jeanne! Thanks for sharing these. :) I just adore looking at the way people dressed on a daily basis back in the day. I think the gal's dress on the left is my favorite (polka dots!)--I want to see more of it! :D Not to mention her hair looks thick and crazy like mine is, which makes me feel so much better that I don't have "movie star" hair! haha!

Don't remember if I posted these before because I see I have deleted all my old Photobucket pics. If so, enjoy again!

Not to be morbid or anything (though I'm the most morbid person I know), but these "Everyday Women" come from gravestones. I can't help it -- I think these are the most beautiful portraits I've ever seen.

There's a great group on Flickr called "I See Dead People" and it's ALL of these photo ceramics if you're into this kind of thing.

I love those cemetery photos too. A lot of people are disturbed by them, but to me, it's lovely to see the humanity beyond the name. I've photographed a few from the cemeteries around me, but they're not real common, and often they've been pried off the stone and stolen. :(

I didn't know that these portraits existed! How common are they?
The only thing disturbing is Death itself, and pics of pretty girls on graves won't change that either way. Thanks! They look like movie stars. Oh, and they reminded me of this:
