Photobooth ladies...

I found (rescued) these in a neighbouring dumpster.

Curious, I pulled out the photo and low and behold...

Now I'd like to know the story behind them! I assume the young girl is the one who wrote the comment.

I believe most of them were taken by her husband, the gentleman seated on the bumper next to her. I don't know his name, but her name is Olga. She's not related to me; the photos came to me by chance.

These images are very clear because I am scanning from the negatives not the prints; I'm fortunate enough to have quite a few of the original negs. He was quite a good photographer.

Here's Olga again, I can't tell if this was staged or if she really did just happen to be fixing her stocking.

And here's Olga's daughter Antoinette, I believe this is in the late 40's/early 50's. Posing in what I'm guessing is her prom dress, or costume for some kind of play.

Great Auntie Elsie - Australian Womens Land Army - WW2

I love this shot of my nana in the early 1930s in the bush with my Pop. He has his own little gold mine that he ran with my Nana's brothers. She lived out there in a canvas tent for a while with them. She said she adored being out there even though it was hot and simple living. I love her outfit of mens jeans - but she still has her lady-like pin-curls

This is my Dad's cousin - Jannette. Taken at her Deb Ball in the early 50s.

Pictures of my grandmother, this first one is in 1943.

This is my all time favorite picture of her (in 1944) because it's one of those manually colored pictures. I was hoping the scanner would pick it up better, but I can see in very faded ink, she's written (to my grandfather): "To My Darling, My love always."

I'd kill to have gotten her gorgeous blue eyes! But, I got her figure, so I guess that's okay!

She had a diner in the 50s-60s. I think this may be the only photo of her there. She's on the right.

My Pop's sister in her cricket team - Women's Land Army in WW2 - UK

My Great Uncle and Aunt (Nana's sister Lilian) on their wedding day in the early 30s in Australia. They look so solemn but are still married today. I think they were about 17 here. So many ladies copied the Queen Mother's headress after she was married.

Another Great Aunt Bessie (my Pop's sister) and Great Uncle Chaz who married during WW2 in the UK. They are were both in the Navy at the time - taken 1941. Love her glasses...hehe.

And my fav...my lovely Nana - Violet with her bridesmaid on her wedding day in 1931 here in Perth. Her lily boquets are amazing...I love lilies too funnily enough.

Hey, us Antipodian ladies had stylish ancestors!

Here's just a few 'Everyday' shots of my Nana. All these pics were taken in New Zealand. I posted more family pics in The Display Case Vintage Family Photos thread.

1939. I managed to date this by the poster in the background. This would be just before War broke out. I love her shoes!

This is four generations. My Great Grandmother Gladys, her father, James, my Nana, Grace and the baby is my oldest Uncle, Donald in 1938. I particularly like my Nana's outfit of a floral redingote coat over a plain dress and the massive belt. Very fashionable.

And something I adore and want to re-create, my Nana in her beach pyjamas!

Apparently she caused quite a stir when she wore these to small town NZ whilst visiting her grandparents from the 'Big Smoke' about 1931/32. She told me they were green with orange flowers and orange appliqued 'sunbursts' round the bottom of the legs. Sounds heavenly!
