Maybe I could borrow a pair of your Clinch(you don't need two pair anyway ;) ) so I can se if you're correct? :D

Jokes aside, I see your point Jake :)

If I had to chose between Clinch and Unsung(gun to my head, and only ever seen them online) I would have to go for the Unsungs, it's something about that "agressive" heel curve(for better words lol) that speaks to me. With this I by no means think Clinch is anything other than amazing xD

Cheers!
Oh yeah at that point it's getting quite subjective as they're both excellent designs. That aggressive heel curve is partly why I think the boots fit me so well and lock my heel in to eliminate heel slip. Clinch heel cups aren't quite as aggressive, but they're more aggressive than Role Club for example.

That’s encouraging to hear. I’ve made payment on a pair of unsung when they release 15 spots last month. They said they should begin work mid feb

Is it the Maryam make up, those are goegoeus, if I didn’t have a black pair of engineers I would’ve done it.

Im holding out for Clinch to do a overdyed brown engineer, but Unsung custom is even more GRAILED, i’m just procrastinating like a bobo.

I am not a fan of Brian’s business practices so he’s a no go.

Got some new engineer boots from unsung. Beautiful boots, however, they came with a little scar. Is it anything to worry about in terms of the integrity of the boot? I'll post pictures of the whole boot tomorrow. 20250117_012315.jpg 20250117_012252.jpg

Shouldn’t be, I got a pair of RCs with similar hide scars all over it. Worn them through plenty of rough conditions with no problems to the scarred areas.

Cheers!

Nice to see a pair of Grinders hanging with that company. :) My first pair of engineers - still got them too - were Grinders. Mine are the Wild One model, I think (the only one that was widely available locally at the time - I bought them way back in 2005). Shiny leather, steel toecap, and a chunky commando sole. Not best vintage accurate in look (given my druthers, I'd take the Rebels of the two), but when it's wet underfoot and/or dealing with snow, only a pair of the old Bundesmarine boots would come close I think. I've since added a pair of Redwings and a couple of pairs of Chippewas. The Danish Bright boots have a strong appeal now. I did look into a pair of Wescos, but at this distance and with the weakness of the pound against the dollar this last decade or so, they're a non-starter for now. Brights have that really nice shape and when comes the time for a pricey pair of boots, could be just the ticket.

What socks do you guys wear with engineer boots. These are my Darn Tough socks, after wearing them about half a dozen times, they are pilling and looks like wont last much long (most around the shaft and ankle area). Although they have a lifetime guarantee, not sure i want to replace with another.

In truth I've only ever just worn whatever regular socks I had to hand with mine. If I was going to reach for specific socks, though, I'd go looking for a pair of seaboot socks like the English Rockers wore in the early sixties.

Photo from Lewis Leathers' website - these are the Aviakit option at £23 a pair, though personally I'd go looking elsewhere for something a big cheaper. They're all much of a muchness for me, and I'm as happy with cotton as wool. A decent hiking sock in any colours would do the same job too. The Rockers always wore this cream colour for the effect, but I don't tend to flip my socks over the top of my boots as they did (in an echo of the RAF, I think). I wear my boots American style, tucked up my trouser leg, so. Same socks still work well, though.

I know, I've already tried to change my name with no luck. I wonder if any of the bartenders can help with that actually.

This has come up before, but it doesn't seem to be an option with the forum architecture provided by the underlying software.
