Engineer Boots, Harness Boots...

Idle question.... I was wearing my cordovan Bootlegger yesterday, and got to wondering... does anyone make an engineer boot in a burgundy colour? I'd be curious to see that....

Go with something in a nice red russet and let the patina do its thang

Wesco has Redwood as one of their standard colors( in addition to brown ). I believe something like that is available on White Nomads through Bakers. Should be able to match a pair with a little effort. I have same color Bootlegger and will wear brown or black engineers with it and it's great.

Awesome! Very happy to hear they fit! And they look great! Love the horsehide.

I'm still experimenting with my Lofgrens. They're a little big, but I'm testing out various combinations of sock thickness and insoles. But I'm sure some of the looseness is just from the heel and soles not being broke in yet, and I'm wondering if I should wear them a little loose for now, rather than cramming in thick socks and insoles and perhaps unnecessarily stretching them out....

Best (but tight) fit right now is with a medium weight boot sock (Wigwam HIKING/OUTDOOR PRO) and the Superfeet green insoles.

A slightly loose fit is with the same socks and the Superfeet 3/4 insoles........

Thx, Ishmael! Would an extra hole in the instep strap do it? I agree that better to not unnecessarily stretch them out.

As for me; now I need to surmise a system for taking em on and off... Feel like I'm gonna rip the damn shafts in half! Will a simple boot jack do the trick? Any suggestions?

Wesco offers a lighter weight (5.5 oz) burgundy leather. I think it is an upcharge though, and they generally recommend adding leather lining with thinner leathers (another upcharge).

I got them directly through Speedway/Lofgren...they are fairly TTS in my estimation.

Matt where did you obtain your Lofgrens and how long? I just remembered size 12 is their largest? just like Road Champs! I'm a 13.

Paul, sorry I'm not sure on White's or RW sizing.

I can relate my experience with JL vs. Alden, although that may not be helpful for you. I'd say you would be safe staying with your same size as in Alden's Tru-balance last, or going up a half size (i.e. I wear an 11.5D in Alden TB and the JL size 12 fits me well, but could probably also fit an 11.5 in JL if such a beast existed).

Anyone have experience with their older boots that can speak to the quality, comfort etc? Says to be made of lightweight veg tanned horse ****... The brown seems about as close to RCs as I've seen colorwise, which I really like

Indeed I can't relate to alders. To sneakers I can nike normally us 11, vans us 11.
Then I went to whites and redwings us 10. I sort it out. Thank U.

^^ My guess is that you will be able to fit into a 10 in the Lofgren engineers, but it will probably be quite tight. An 11 with thick socks and / or some sort of an insole would probably be the safer bet.

Exactly why I sold mine.
Bootjack makes it easier to get off.
On biketrips I just don't carry bootjack with me, and I can imagine the results of going to "bed" in a tent fully loaded....;-)

That's a good looking boot but not for $1000.

^^ Not a fan of the block heel on this type of boot....
