Sir Thomas Moore, affectionally known as 'Captain Tom' has died from COVID aged 100. He became a national hero last year when he went on a sponsored walk to raise money for the NHS (The UK's public health system).....expecting to raise only £1,000 he ended up raising over £32 million.
I cannot recall watching Plummer and not enjoying his performance immensely. A truly gifted actorThis breaks my heart. Once again, inevitable but heart breaking:

Christopher Plummer, who was among the greatest Canadian actors ever to grace stage and screen, has died.
Plummer died Friday morning at his home in Connecticut with his wife, Elaine Taylor, by his side, said Lou Pitt, his longtime friend and manager.
In a career that spanned over six decades, including the iconic role of Captain von Trapp in the film The Sound of Music, Plummer won an Academy Award at 82 for Beginners, a film about a widower who comes out of the closet late in life while dying of cancer.
He had been nominated twice, captured two Tony Awards among seven nominations, and also took home two Emmys. He earned a reputation as one of the great classical actors of modern times — without attending a prestigious theatre school. "
I had the privilege of seeing him on stage at Stratford, Ontario, twice, in King Lear in 2002, and The Tempest in 2010:

He appeared in Stratford many times, Hamlet in 1957 among others.
We just saw him of course in Knives Out, and I love watching him in The Battle of Britain among many other films.

I adored his Lear, but probably my favorite performance of his at Stratford was his impersonation of John Barrymore in ‘96.
It's an odd obituary: Phil Spector, Convicted Murderer And Pioneering Pop Producer, Has Died
Screech has died, aged only 44, from lung cancer:

Have you ever seen the newspapers astrology reports? Every new year's day predictions for the coming year, foresee a royal death. They have been predicting this for the last twenty years. Given that the Queen is 95 and her husband will be 100 in a few months time, it's inevitable that one year they will be right. Predictable they are, clairvoyant they are not.Yeh, definitely a trend developing here.
It is like those 'experts' that predict big stock market moves.....all they have to do is get one right sometime in their career and they can ride that wave as 'experts' for the rest of their lives.....never having to get anything right ever again.Have you ever seen the newspapers astrology reports?
