I can say I saw a handful of British Invasion bands play (with varying degrees of original memebers) and Gerry and the Pacemakers was one. 1984 at Hamilton Place, Hamilton Ontario.

My friend Ivan got the tickets for us. Just turned 17 years old, and these guys were my musical heroes.

I saw the Pacemakers in a Rock N Roll review in about 1964 or so. I know it was pre 1965 as I was not driving yet and had to take my date in a taxi. It was a review of about 8 acts that all had hits on the radio. Looking back I am pretty sure the entire night was lip synced. As each act came out one right after the next....no set up time at all.

Replacement Angel and Bond Girl Tanya Roberts has died in Los Angeles at the age of 65. The cause of death was not released, but her friend and publicist Mike Pingel said it was not Covid-19. Roberts was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on December 24th after she collapsed at home after a morning walk with her dogs, and died Sunday (January 3rd).

Yeah, now I have no idea what's what, 'cause this whole story is screwy. Apparently her boyfriend (who some are now saying is actually her husband) thought she had passed and left the room. Her publicist spoke with him, that news was passed on, and news sources publicized her death. As it turned out the boyfriend/husband was wrong, the hospital called to notify him of his error Monday morning, and now the news is that the reports of her passing were greatly exaggerated. I'm starting to think the whole thing is nothing more than a publicity stunt attempting to resurrect both her and her career.

It certainly was for Elvis. Been dead a little over 43 years, still releasing albums that sell well.

And now for the latest on Tanya Roberts. They are now reporting that, after a false report of her death, she died Monday night (January 4th, 2021) at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Her partner, Lance O'Brien, is obviously an imbecile, but he now says he got a call from one of Ms. Roberts' doctors Monday night (just after 9 PM) to inform him that she had actually died this time.

Potential retractions should be forthcoming in three...two...one...

More signs of my disappearing youth. Names that today would barely register a raised eyebrow in some circles, but had significant impact on this (then) young man. The Merseybeat, which would introduce the world to the Beatles had its adherents, and probably non better symbolizing it than Gerry and the Pacemakers. I still find myself singing along whenever I (rarely now) hear, Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying. It's reported that their song How Do You Do It was recorded, but never released, by the Beatles. Brian Epstein managed them both -- a sure sign that he had a knack for recognizing talent.

I only have one album by Claude Bolling, and that is his 1975 Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio. Music has been a major part of my life, and in the 1970s I began listening to, and attempting to play jazz (I still have my Mickey Baker Jazz Guitar instuctions books - Volumes I & II, considered by many to be the authority on playing jazz guitar). During that period I listened to everything from fusion jazz (Chick Corea & Return to Forever, John McLaughlin & Mahavishnu Orchestra), to traditional, smoky-club jazz (Joe Pass, Barney Kessel). I heard Jean-Pierre Rampal, a flautist playing jazz and picked this album, and it's still fresh and alive 45 years later. The mark of great musicians and artists is that they actually leave their mark behind them.
