Connery's acting skills are best demonstrated when he portrayed the father of Indiana Jones. Ford & Connery are only twelve years apart, yet both gave a believable performance that they were father & son. As for Bond, he exists in my mind, I had read all of Flemings novels about 007 long before James Bond came to the attention of Hollywood. Connery was good but he didn't match the image in my mind.

Despite his acting skills, I haven't as yet, reconciled myself with his attitude that it's ok to give a woman a slap if all else fails. No it's not, slapping someone is barbaric, it occurs when the red mist comes down and when that happens, you're not in full control of your faculties.

Considering his career as an actor spanned 58 years, I'd bet if you were to have earned Sir Connery's trust he would have expressed some displeasure at being so associated with James Bond and the franchise. Proceeding with that thought in mind, I wonder which was his favorite role and/or which role he'd rather be remembered for.

Connery never disguised his love for his beloved Scotland, but he also knew that Bond & Connery (the actor) were inextricably linked together. If you were a golf enthusiast you might just find yourself on the links at St. Andrews, Scotland, and possibly in the company of a Hollywood legend. Ask the man for his autograph and he would willingly sign his name, such was his engagement with the fans of James Bond.

His misogynistic intolerance portrays a flawed human trait, but then, as is quoted in the bible: "He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone." But physical violence towards anyone, for whatever reason, cannot be justified.

For what it's worth I felt much more of a pang for the late Honor Blackman when she died a month or so ago. As a young schoolboy I remember seeing her talking about her audition for the role of Pussy Galore in Goldfinger. Blackman, and that interview, affirmed to me that I would always be a hetrosexual male.

Actor Lyle Waggoner, known from Carol Burnett Show and Wonder Woman, has died, aged 84.

My mum was a huge fan of Carol Burnett, and we watched her show in the 70s. I still remember when guest star Gloria Swanson came on stage with Waggoner, praising Carol. Something along the lines of "you know, I am often given special gifts when I appear, but Carol, you've really outdone yourself"! Carol of course spoofed Sunset Blvd., doing a Norma Desmond spoof, Nora Desmond.

A very familiar face on Britich TV (& voice on radio), actor Geoffrey Palmer, has died aged 93.

Palmer portrayed Queen Victoria's private secretary in the movie: Her Majesty, Mrs. Brown. Henry Ponsonby or to give the character his full title: Major-General Sir Henry Frederick Ponsonby GCB PC, a British soldier and royal court official who served as Queen Victoria's Private Secretary. Palmer, an actor with an amazing repertoire of talents, portrayed Ponsonby with perfect aplomb.

One of my absolute favourite actors. Truly sad, but a great life lived and an amazing body of work. We will binge a few As Time Goes By episodes in his honour.

This man started out with the CBC in Ottawa in 1960, later moving to Toronto where he became on on air regular, before trying his luck in Hollywood in the 1970s.

I did not recognize the name at first, but sure did recognize his face in the link. Part of my childhood, one of those "grownup" people my parents watched and knew, so I did as well. A long life, and a funny one.
