Jack Bruce was a major influence on me a young bassplayer. He was an Icon of the instrument and to rock music in general.

R.I.P. Mr. Bruce and thanks for all the great music.

She wasn't exactly a household name, but veteran character actress Carol Ann Susi has died in Los Angeles at the age of 62 after a brief battle with cancer. In recent years Susi was best known for providing the voice of Mrs. Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory.

Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz, doctor and surfer. Of Jewish heritage, he tried to unite Arabs and Jews surfing on the Gaza strip. In the States, he lived the life of a nomadic surfer.
He died at age 93, so he must have done something right.

Noted Western lifestyle photographer David Stoecklein died last month. His books introduced many folks to the world of cowboy hats, boots, wild horses, and sexy cowgirls. His work not only sold well as prints and popular coffee table books, but he had a long background in major-league advertising, and many western clothing and tack catalogues featured his work on their covers. I knew David, and one of his sons (who is coming up quickly as a photographer as well), and he was a really great guy, with an easy way about him, and a knowledge of many things. He will be missed amongst lovers of the real American Cowboy style of living, but has left behind a wealth of incredible images, documenting this slowly fading part of our national heritage. RIP Dave. Frank
