Whitney Houston has died today at 48 yrs old.
I just heard. Not too surprising, given her past (if it indeed was drug related).

Dreadful news. One of the greatest voices of all time. Her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner made me weep like a ninny every time I heard it.
A tragic life and a beautiful talent. R.I.P. Whitney Houston

RIP
So her Gospel and R&B stuff doesn't count?Houston never sang anything of substance, just empty pop songs.
A huge THANK YOU to that idiot, Bobby Brown, for starting her on the downward spiral that ended her life prematurely!
I remember reading a Joan Baez ROLLING STONE interview in the late '80s where Baez praised the obvious power and quality of Houston's singing voice, but at the same time lamenting the fact that Houston never sang anything of substance, just empty pop songs. What a waste artistically...but now it's just a plain waste. Sad.
Unfortunately, while Whitney Houston's death was not really surprising, perhaps the saddest part is that her tragic life was the trainwreck you could see coming a mile away. I had a bitter laugh at how that prize prat Bobby Brown was doing a concert and on hearing the news of her death was so overcome with emotion that he could barely get through it. Why the tears, Bobby? As if you didn't greatly contribute to her untimely demise! What a D-bag!
