Daves New York - tell me about them

This thread is primarily for NYC and surrounding area TFL members:

I recently discovered a store on 6th Avenue called Dave's NY that was absolutely packed with everything from the largest Carhartt clothing selection I'd ever seen, to Dickies and Schott, Timberland and Salomon shoes. It is one of the densest clothing stores I've ever seen.

But I bring it up because it is selling new Schott jackets for massive discounts, like the 592 is being offered for a mere $750 - almost $500 off the retail price/MSRP. There were some perfectos at similar reduced price points but I could not see the pattern type on the tag as the jackets were high up on the wall. I am very tempted to grab the 592, if nothing else because it is so inexpensive and I can force it into my rotation.

They have a TON of other Schott and other makers' jackets, hundreds in fact, from Schott peacoats to Carhartt as mentioned, plus other brands with unimaginable choices of colors, patterns, styles, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with this store and can explain why can it sell Schott leather jackets at such a discount?

Not from NYC but the only explanation I can think of is that you're looking at old stock that entered when it was being sold at 750 USD and never bothered to change the tags. I've read around here about some (online?) shop where this happened.

My only reasoning is that its old stock. They sold alot of the peacoats back in 2000s. And no tax if you paid cash.
