D-1 Sheepskin Jackets

Looking advice on what would be the best D-1 out there to buy but not at silly money. Hard to work out a size as well as they all seem to go in S/M/ L and I am currently a 38” in a Freewheelers Brakeman coat. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Aero goes by tag size. You can spec measurements.

The best are Eastman or a Real McCoys if you can find one in your size, but they are silly money. An Aero should work out cheaper if you order from Thurston. Here are the measurements for an Eastman D-1, as @Bfd70 said Aero go by tag size.

The BEST general use sheepskin jacket IMHO.

I’ve had most manufacturers versions except RMNZ .... I currently own a Simmons Bilt and an Aero (very similar cuts the SB is slightly wider in the arms at the cuff) and about 1” longer in the body (both 42”) ... I’m only 170cm and I wouldn’t want the Aero any shorter TBH.

The Aero is the typical 3 piece back and the SB two piece (by request). The Aero talon repro zippers the SB riri. The Aero has a repro D1 label and the SB the standard SB label. Both really nice jackets.

Both seal with russet facings.

My Eastman was sized Large.

If authentic labelling etc is your thing go Aero or Eastman. If that’s not an issue SB. Overall 2nd hand will be the best value but they’re not popular so you’ll typically wait a while.
