I like looking at all those art boots in the books. But, i have to say my taste runs pretty plain.

Unbelievable that they made such artwork on boots. I got my first boots as a kid in the early sixties and still remember them. They were Acme, actually fairly high quality. They were very ornate with steer head cutouts with gold horns!

I'm with you for the most part. I do have a couple pair with fancy shaft stitching. One pair with wing tips and heel foxing with broguing and lacing down the collared shafts and a pair with with a Fleur di lis red overlay collar on a black shaft. Helps break up the monotony. I do like a contrasting color in the shaft along with a different color in the side seam piping.

I really liked those bullhide packers. I wrote the seller and asked if they are true to size. I wear a 12 in most shoes, but sometimes size down to an 11 1/2 in boots. He said they probably wouldn't fit me.

Do you think that the big 3 and Luccese mostly all fit to size and I should be looking for size 12 D, as I wear in shoes?

Also, let me know if you see any cool packers.

Thanks

Will do. As to fit, I've worn TL's, Justin and Noconas and to me, all fit similarly and true to size. The exception, to me, are Lucchese Classics. They are built on what is called a "twisted cone" last. Great boots but a different fit and feel. I wouldn't buy any w/o first trying them on. Another good boot that can sometimes be found at a reasonable price is Black Jack. El Paso made and founded by former Lucchese employees. I've only owned one pair but a good boot.

Oh Oh, I am waiting on a pair of Lucchese Classics Ropers, hoping they fit similarly to Justin's or at least close.

Here's a good looking boot, to me anyway, made about an hour N of me in Nashville by Wes Shugart of Music City Leather. Blue pig foot with a kangaroo top. Pretty good inlay/overlay work, if you want fighting roosters on your boots. Hope to visit him some day.

I don't think you'll have any problems. I've only owned one pair and the fit was good, it just felt a bit different. Mine had 1 3/4" heels and I bet it's not as noticeable on a lowered heel boot. Keep us posted.

Yeh, I have a taller heel in my snakeskin boots and I can't get used to them. I wouldn't think that 1/4" would be such a big deal but it feels like a lot. Even my wife remarks that I tower over her when I am in my boots......1/4" seriously???

Gotta love that classic "Lacer"! I still have a pair of Justin's in Bullhide that I picked up 20 years ago. They've been resoled and reheeled at least twice and they STILL get the job done!!

I'll bet those are going to feel awesome to wear!
Thats what I was looking on ebay. They were too small though. If you see any Bullhide packer lace up let me know.
Thanks!

@jonesy86 , if you're interested in packers, you might give these a look. I have no experience with packers but everything I've heard about Drews is good, FWIW.

Found these on the bay.

I love some of the stuff on dress web page. Tons of packer styles. The one on ebay also looks like a pretty good deal. I wonder if they fit to size. Only worn once. Have to ask what went wrong. Really cool looking boots and a decent price too. Thanks a bunch.
