Do you think that the big 3 and Luccese mostly all fit to size...

TL's used to fit a bit looser in the throat & heel but all bets are off on new boots today.

Yeh, I have a taller heel in my snakeskin boots and I can't get used to them. I wouldn't think that 1/4" would be such a big deal but it feels like a lot. Even my wife remarks that I tower over her when I am in my boots......1/4" seriously???

Don't know what brand you're talking about but it all goes to instep & arch. If the boot is made properly you won't have any problems adjusting to that 1/4". If you take a flat footed boot like a Roper & add a 1/4" to the heel for example, it will throw everything off.

Both Paul Bond & Bob McLean build nice Packers on any platform you want. If you want other off the shelf options Drews has been mentioned, White's & Wilson's both make Packers also.

Amazing work. I'm not usually one for much flash, but those red and black packers are simply beautiful. I can picture wearing them with the black on the bottom and the red peaking out a bit as you walk. Man thats hot.

These are some of my best BBQ boots. I like my pants to fit where the mule ear just shows when I'm standing, like it is showing below the hat in the first pic.

Those are beautiful! The red and black is outstanding. I love the classic look of snip toes and mule ears.

That’s for sure. I often call at the Justin outlet here in Ft Worth where they sell all three brands.

The sizes are all over the place.

For me, 10D in Nocona usually will fit (but not always), I can’t get 10D TL on to save my life and 10E or 10.5D are too big.

Justin 10D are sometimes too big and sometimes too tight in the same size.

My best successes have been with used 10D Nocona from eBay.

Yes, I think it is a problem adjusting to the steeper rake of a cowboy boot. It just "feels" so much higher. I guess that is what happens when a city kid like me tries to wear a cowboy boot. I looked again and the snake skin boots are Justins as well.

I haven't seen this much activity on this thread in a long time and I'm really enjoying it. Since HJ posted a pic of the Pablo Jass boots, I thought I'd repost my pair of Ray Jones boots, the man who mentored the Jass brothers, Pablo, John and Michael. Pablo still makes boots as Ray Jones did, using Jones patterns for stitching and doing three rows of pegs. Pablo has stepped out a bit, doing the fancy stitched vamps and such. He and John still use the same toe bug/flower. Historians say Jones only offered two stitch patterns, though I've only ever seen the one. Jones died in 1983.

I bet you will get used to them after a while. Just get out there and strut.

If you have a flat foot with little arch that can be a problem trying to wear a boot with more heel.
