I just got a yearning for some boots. Put these on my wishlist....maybe I'll get lucky.

About 18 months ago I got a hankerin' for cowboy boots. Bought a pair of Double HH (Made in USA) cowboy/workboots. They are very comfortable to wear and look great.

I own 4 pairs of Ariat boots, dating back to 4 years ago. When I bought the first pair, the were extremely cheap. Now they have gone up in price, but I still consider the to be the best value, and most comfortable boots around. I have one pair of 13 inch pointed toe, and 2 pairs of ropers, and also a full quill ostrich skin boot. I love them all!

Might be a bit late on this but I've owned many pairs of these over the years. They fit true to size and are very comfortable. The goat skin is not as sturdy as calf and they do scuff I bit easier. The soles used to last me about one year which is not great. You might also try Sheplers for price. They have periodic discounts.

Being a boot lover from childhood, I think those RM Williams are wonderful. I have a few alligator belly Lucchese boots and they are pretty close to the Williams above. I love them, but over the years feet change and I have a few pairs I can't wear now. That is like loosing a good friend. I wear the alligator belly for dress, and they are very formal for a boot look. My favorite everyday boot is still the Full Quill Ostrich. They are the most comfortable boot to put on. They feel immediately broken in because of the softness of the leather but last forever.(Tony Lama makes a good, comfortable,relatively inexpensive FQ ostrich boot.) So Griffer hope you get your wish. Once you really start wearing them, you never go back, and everybody notices them. John

I still have a pair of Tony Lama boots from about 15 years ago--one of the better pairs of boots I could find in our small Nebraskan town. I got them re-soled several years back. While I don't get much use out of them here in California, I still bring 'em back to my folks' farm on occasion.

Hi John,
I myself love the Classics,I many pairs including customs, I have been to the Lucchese Plant and the 2000, 1883 line of boots are made in the same Texas plant still today!
The Resistol Ranch line is made in Mexico and the others (Diva,Charlie one Horse,Etc are made in Brazil.Best Regards,Mike

I haven't gotten a pair in 20 years, because they still function, but my grandfather got me a pair of Paul Bond custom boots when I turned 18, and himself wore the same brand most of the last half century. They're pricey, but worth it. Mine are shark, and the ones I have from the early 80s still have no real wear or damage on the foot, which has outlasted the upper shaft, made of regular cowhide. I typically add my own sartorial touches to outfits. I've been known to do things that make others wince. Having served a rotation in Texas, cowboy boots were one of the things that I brought back with me to California. While not "high end", I found that I liked the fit & feel of Tony Lama. I have about a half dozen pairs of cowboy boots, but the Tony Lama are my favorite. My black & cordovan pairs are kept highly polished and I wear them with suits when I go to court. I've even worn my Tony Lama with formal wear. If you've ever seen a guy in a dinner jacket & black tie with a pair of cowboy boots, then we've already met.

Way to go 50 I agree! Skytop is right there too, you got to buy what feels good. There are many brands out there, and I have Justin, Lucchese, lamas and many more, but I have to say the Lamas and the Luccheses fit me the best and feel most comfortable. ( Outside of wearing Wescos ). The Tony Lama FQ Ostrich is still the best feeling cowboy boot to put on. With the soft feel of the ostrich, they are broken in from day one. With a suit I will wear a dark color ostrich or actually go to a belly gator Lucchese; a more formal and expensive boot for better places.Glad to see some input finally on good cowboy boots guys.Much better thread than another nearby that is clueless. There are some other good choices here of local boot makers who have the ability of making good boots. We need to hear more about some of these.Now for the toe: Mine is the "R" toe.---John
