Cooper A2 orange label jacket questions.

Hi, Looking for any info on the age and quality of this Cooper A2 orange label. I haven't seen a zipper and round pull tab like this before. It has the side panels and a 2 piece back, but apparently some of the larger sizes ( this is a 52L) were made with 2 piece backs. Any knowledge concerning this jacket would be great. Thanks.

Would the knits on this jacket be the earlier purplish type? Is the zipper itself made of chrome? I know it is hard to tell from internet photos.

That is the original 90's orange label, it's not a high end modern repro but the condition is good and in my mind is a great affordable A2.
I don't think I've actually seen the purplish knits that I've heard about, but these do look much more purplish than my 90's orange label.
If those are the earlier knits that would make it early 90's.

That zipper pull is definitely not original, and until I saw the close up picture I figured it was just a keyring or something.
My guess is that it came off some kind of duffle bag or purse...etc

Great knock around jacket that can be picked up very cheaply. I have two that I paid around £100 for.Replace the puller for £5.

I'd just may my own that fits better than this haphazard substitute, but I didn't know that you could just get a replacement for $5.

Yes,i replaced the puller with one from Ebay for £4.Easy to replace and exact match to original. My cooper probably fits better than any A2 ive owned. Love the lightweight goatskin, when the knits eventually need replacing i will use quality replacement. It will cost more than the jacket cost me ,but I really like it.

That's great to know.

At $100 for the jacket it will definitely cost more than that for knit replacement, and who knows how much this repair will commonly cost by the time that ever comes.
Hell I payed $150 here in the US for mine, and it'll probably cost more than that by the time I need the knits replaced.
Since it's a lighter weight jacket though there's not a lot of stress on the stitching, and when that day comes the rest of the jacket is going to still be in good shape and will be well worth the cost of repair.
A pakistani cheapo from the mall or something will probably be a few hundred at that point too.
