Hi: I'd appreciate any assistance identifying the maker and age of this motorcycle jacket. It's unmarked but very similar in design to Cal-Leathers, with the exception of the small grommeted panels under the arms. I think that it is horsehide but can't tell for certain; while heavy in weight, the hide is not as thick or stiff as my other Cals. The Talon main zipper might be a replacement, as there is additional stitching, presumably added later either to reinforce or replace. The pocket and sleeve zippers are marked YYY and appear to be original. Thanks much for your help!

I'm not 100% sure it's an Al's, that main zip is a brass Talon, the "YYY" are not known to me.
There are also differences in the waist-band area, along with the "action-type" under arm footballs with venting grommets. (Mine did not have these) I could sure be wrong of course.

Verses the (very nice) jacket you are considering (Note the more even rows of stitching in the waist band area):
Back to my Al's that I sold off a while back - back side -
And our mystery jacket: Note the deeper "beaver-tail" cured Kidney belt area, more even stitching across the back as with front, and the prominent underarm footballs, as well as more pointed "V" yoke --
These features are also not on this heavier straight-zip model:
But the rest of the jacket is spot-on --

No, it's not an Al's for many reasons. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've received presumably well meant input that has been incorrect and ill-considered. It happened to an even greater degree when I posted months ago about a '50s Cal-Leather and received several false comments from experienced collectors who should have known better. There's certainly no sin in not possessing answers, but averring to erroneous statements merely increases the proliferation of misinformation and ignorance.
It appears that the dolt who couldn't read my initial post properly and incorrectly declared the jacket to be an Al's Leather has sheepishly removed his comment. Unsurprisingly, he didn't have the character to apologize for his mistake.
