Need help with Leather Jacket ID (German Wartime Era)

Hello everyone

I recently just bought this beautiful vintage leather jacket. In my best guess this is post WW2 era jacket due to the model, lining, Ruhr main zipper & Opti pocket zipper.

The leather is horsehide i suppose. The color is beautiful, it has greenish color (not very visible in the photo though) and the lining is in perfect condition.

It has no other label than the "Turmkleidung".

But i clearly have no experience whatsoever on this kind of jacket, so any idea if this is truly a vintage wartime piece? And what do you think about the age of this jacket and is the leather actually horsehide?

Very nice find!

I don’t know anzt about this maker, but the designs seems to indicate mid to late 70s.
Most German leather jackets around that time were cowhide, but it’s impossible to tell from the pictures alone (well, for me it is).

Seems to be top condition. Really interesting.

Turmkleidung is the manufacturer and translates to English as Tower Clothing. I've seen one other German clothing manufacturer using a local landmark as part of their name.

You might do some searches concerning German makers of leather jackets. Maybe still in business.

Just wildly guessing, but It would not surprise me to discover that the item pictured was a simple motorcycle jacket, or perhaps a Police (Polizei) motorcycle jacket.

Hi! I recently got my hands on something similar, it seems to be a Police motorcycle jacket.
Mine has a different manufacturer and all zippers are RiRi.

To echo @Tom71, this jacket was made long after the war, late 60s at best but I'd say but could be 70's as the red piping are made from PVC. Another revealing sign of later make is the "elasticized" back. Earlier types of these jackets initially had either a rather complex detachable half-belt system or straps with buckles. The jacket shows general signs of simplification of manufacture process with many of the old-school details and features absent (for instance, there is no zig-zag stitch on the back of the collar).

Leather is most likely cowhide but without a tag, it really doesn't matter either way.

Hi Monitor!
Long time lurker here - I reckon I've been checking this place out every day for the past 10? years!
I've got a few vintage jackets - and one very similar to this German jacket - ie with the red plastic piping... but mine does have the "details" you mention - zigzag stitching under the collar at the back, a tightenable "half belt style" strap with red piping across the lower back and a short leather piece with a snap fastening piece.. presumably to ensure zip isn't stressed at the bottom. There's no maker's label.
I'd be grateful if you could give me any info. about this - date maybe?
Happy Holidays!

Yo. I'd need photos for that.

Hein Gericke, among few, made very good reproductions of these jackets so without seeing it, I cannot be certain. The early jackets have a very... Authentically old timey feel to it but it's difficult to explain this if you hadn't handled them.

In any case, upload some photos and perhaps I'll be able to tell you.

This is one that I got, that's made the way I describe. Sadly, these jackets are often disregarded and sold cheap, even though even the most superficial comparison immediately tells one that drawing any kind of comparison between them and their famous American counterparts people lose their **** over, would be unfair.

Hi again Monitor!
Here's some photos of my jacket. The colour of the jacket is brown as shown in the photo showing the main Opti zip or a touch darker- not as dark as in the other photos. All the zips are Opti. The leather is beautifully soft!
No labels at all.
What do you think?
