Here is my promised report on the Chinese-made leather jackets I ordered. I now own three, and I believe each jacket deserves its own individual review. (and 2 more jackets on the way). This report covers the Jiashi Mulholland horsehide jacket that I ordered from Sammy at Crush on Retro. The ordering process was fast, seamless, and professional.

Here is the next installment of my promised reports on Chinese-made leather jackets, following my Jiashi Mulholland review. I now own three jackets, with two more on the way. I believe each maker deserves an individual review. This report covers one of my two Veluokldly jackets: a 1940s A-2-inspired half-belt. Its fit and pattern are its strongest features; the hardware is my main reservation.

Here is the third installment of my reports on Chinese-made leather jackets, following my Jiashi Mulholland and first Veluokldly review. I now own three jackets, with two more on the way. Each jacket deserves an individual review. This report covers my Veluokldly Lewis-inspired cross zip. Its fit, leather and plaid lining are its strongest features; uneven action-back construction and lightweight zippers are my main reservations.

Thanks for the in-depth reviews. Very interesting to read. I think these jackets are like “tuition” to help one understand what styles and designs fit ones preferences without the financial hit. The problem is you can’t stop at one.

Recommend Real Simons, Ray Kwok and JiaShi. You can buy on Taobao through middle men or from resellers.

I found Crush on Retro very good. One price ( Jacket, taxes , tariff, shipping) all included. The market with several brands. I found the Jiashi very good. You can see the rankings according to this forum in an earlier post I had AI compile.

Hello again.

I decided to see how a non-shearling flight jacket would look on me, and once again I turned to the Chinese manufacturers because of the lower price. I had not yet ordered from Real Simons so I gave them a shot, directly on Taobao for $320 CAD.

This is their G1 flight jacket with a fur collar, size M. Goatskin. I am about 5'8.5", 165lbs.

PXL_20261016_194933823~2.jpg

So, I think this thing fits bang on perfect sizing wise. I also think the goatskin is nice - it smells and feels like a goatskin jacket I used to have back in the day. Very substantial feeling, and the collar is quite nice. I am sweating just wearing it in my house right now. The ribbing material is nice, elastic and soft. Construction wise I see no obvious flaws - it honestly might be as nicely built as my Ray Kwok.

The lining is some sort of generic cotton lining but it feels nice. Pattern wise the pockets are a useable height on my torso and the button is easy to use. It has one internal snap button pocket. Zipper feels robust and draws no problem, although I have no idea what an "Ideal" brand zipper is.

Overall, at the price I paid, I can confidently say this is the best value jacket I've ever purchased, period.

Hi all,

I’m about to order the 1930s Half Belt Sports Leather Jacket from Crush on Retro (made by JiaShi):
https://crushonretro.com/products/1930s-half-belt-sports-leather-jacket

Me:

  • Height: 179 cm (5'10.5")
  • Weight: 75–77 kg (167 lbs)
  • Chest (body): 100 cm (39.4")
  • Arm: 60 cm (23.6"), shoulder bone to wrist bone, arm slightly bent
  • My well-fitting jackets/shirts measure 48 cm across the shoulders
  • Usually wear M/L in Western sizing
Measurements from the seller (Jimmy at CoR):

SizeShoulderChestSleeveLength
XL47112–1146262
**L48116–1186363
Jimmy says XL is a snug fit and **L is looser. He suggests XL if I only wear a T-shirt underneath.

My dilemma:

  • I’m worried the XL sleeve (62 cm) is too short for my 60 cm arm, and the XL shoulders are 1 cm narrower than my usual jackets.
  • But the **L chest (116–118 cm) feels too roomy for my 100 cm chest. I’m slim and want a fitted 1930s look, not boxy.
  • I’ll mostly wear it over a T-shirt, sometimes a shirt or thin turtleneck.
  • Returns from Kazakhstan to China cost me $40–80, so I want to get it right the first time.
For those who own this jacket (or other JiaShi / CoR pieces): does the sleeve run true to the chart, and does horsehide stretch or “drop” in sleeve length with wear? Would you go XL or **L in my case?

Thanks!

Id definitely go with the larger size double XL. Shoulders being too strained are a no go for me, puts strain on multiple stress points. Plus, Id prefer the ability to have a light layering underneath.

I was in your same situation when ordering this same jacket in the coffee-wine, deciding between the M and the L. Jimmy said the same thing to me that the M would be a snug fit and the L would be looser. I made the mistake of ordering the M to get the fitted look. The jacket was indeed snug and could only wear a T shirt. With much hassle and extra $, I returned the M and exchanged for a L which was much much better. Looks OK with just a T-shirt but better layered with a flannel shirt. Basically, it comes down to how you will be wearing the jacket most. You’re going to really like this jacket. Good luck.

Thank you both, this is really helpful! Thanks to your advice, I’m now leaning towards **L. Matt_B, Arin666, your experience is exactly what I was afraid of, especially since a return from Kazakhstan would cost me even more.

The only thing that still makes me hesitate is this review video:

The reviewer wears the same jacket in 2XL and it fits him nicely, but he’s noticeably bigger than me in the shoulders, chest and waist. His measurements are roughly: chest 108.5 cm (42.75"), stomach 101.5 cm (40"), waist 95 cm (37.5"). Mine: chest 100 cm, slim build. He is shorter though, 174 cm vs my 179 cm.

So I’m a bit worried **L might look too roomy on me in the chest and body. On the other hand, my arms and torso are longer, so the extra sleeve and length should help. I’m planning to use the side adjusters to take in the waist.

Do you think **L will still look good on a slimmer build, or will it look too big? Thanks again!

I would rely on Jimmy to guide you. He knows these jackets and how they fit probably better than probably anyone in this forum. Express to him the exact concerns you have about the torso and sleeves vs the extra room in the chest and body. In my opinion, if I guessed wrong and got a jacket a bit too large, I can still wear it with layering. But a too small jacket that's uncomfortable will likely not get worn.

I agree 100% with this advice. Jimmy helped me order mine and I’m certain I would have regretted going down a size.

The more I wear this jacket the more I like it. It feels like a much more expensive navy. Can’t believe it was just under $300.
