Chinese leather jackets

My understanding is that it was a way to create an insignia or rank placement where you didnt have to sew through the shearling (which feild positions wouldnt have the equipment for). Imagine getting a feild promotion and this was your jacket, putting a rank patch on it would be pretty rough otherwise.

Ive also read that eastman used varying depth in their shearling. That would make sense on a jacket like this one, id cut away 1/2 on the sleeves for mobility.

Looks amazing. Can we get more info about how to get a similar one?
So I wanted a Jiashi Moulland because the ridiculous cost of double helix. So looking at this thread. Seems like Simmons a Jiashi are the alternatives. I ordered it and it’s in Chicago now (Crushed on Retro). I wanted to evaluate this thread so… I Ran a script with Complete full 45-page review and created an illustrated 11-page report.

Key findings from 65 consolidated first-hand reviews:
  • Positive: 34 — 52%
  • Neutral/mixed: 20 — 31%
  • Negative: 11 — 17%
  • Best overall signal: JAISHI/Jia Shi
  • Strongest supporting evidence: Real Simons
  • Most inconsistent: Veluokldly and Cidu
  • Greatest caution: Curphey
  • Biggest universal risk: inaccurate sizing followed by prohibitively expensive returns.
Here it is with reasoning behind rankings and evaluations

So
This is exactly what I mentioned to you I the Cossack thread. These jackets are mass produced in such quantities that they are bulk shipped for next to nothing. But you as an individual will pay out the a$$ to have a jacket hand delivered back to the shipping warehouse.

I have no delusions about these jackets, and I’ve voiced and demonstrated over and over again why they aren’t worth anywhere near the cost they can be had for. But one must simply accept defeat if they roll the dice and it doesn’t work out. Zero resale value and essentially impossible to return. This combined with dubious quality, ambiguous leather and shoddy craftsmanship makes saving the money for something far superior a very easy choice imo. Not to mention you have a direct and clear channel for after sale support.
so I just ordered a Jiashi on crushed for ~$350. With tariffs and shipping to US it’s probably ~$250 cost. I agree it’s all a risk. So - I wanted to experiment with the other brands (I posted a summary of this thread today) my risk reduction was to buy specifically used / 3rd hand jackets that came with measurements/ pictures. Maybe I’m the sucker for buying something with “zero resale value” but I will evaluate and probably post a few for resale. Either because of fit , quality or simply because I have too many duplicates of a particular style.

I've heard this point said by quite a few people at this point

It would cost me around 1,600 pounds or 2,166$ to buy and ship an aero leather barnstormer to me. Thats assuming i dont get hit with another 200$ in tariffs. If i sold it here id expect a reasonable time frame sale to be 1,200, minus 60$ to ship so 1,140$ net. An ebay sale at that price would be about 900$ net.

So a resale return of 52%.

I can sell the b3 bomber i posted for 240$ here. I can sell my jiashi brakeman for 175$. I'll make the same return/loss on investment as i would with aero. At this point the larger chinese brands arent unknown, and there is a market for them, espectially at a 50% of msrp resale price point.

Your assessment is sound and I am figuring I can move the Jackets at 50-60% of purchase. But in real terms it’s still a much less risk proposition to experiment with. I’m out ~$150 versus ~$700 on an aero. That all being said it seems like the Eastman is best at holding long term value. While some of my older vintage stuff seems to have doubled, triple and some case qudadroupled. Not trying to make money but if the hobby doesn’t break the bank it’s fun versus a burden

Does anyone have experience with Sauce Zhan leather jackets? Their denim is great, but I don't know about their leather garments. They seem to have a nice RMC A1 copy. However, I think, they don't manufacture it by themselves and instead just give the specifications to another production site. Also not on the cheap side for a chinese jacket, so I'm still not sure whether to give it a try.

So this isn’t a Leather jacket but I still wanted to share. I have a Cidu “RRL” Mendoza in leather and have wanted the same jacket in canvas forever.

The canvas version seems to be even more rare and is called a Colt.
It’s made of unobtanium

Just spotted this on eBay and instantly ordered it. I’ll follow up when it arrives.

I thought I would post an update on the Veluokldly J100 that I got last March. Summer hit not long after I received it and it’s been way too hot to wear leather, but I’ve been alternating this J100 with several other jackets at night in the house with the air-conditioning running just to break them in. Took these pictures today, but the fit pic was taken a while back when the weather was a little bit more cooperative.

The leather feels really good, it has a slight waxy feel, but is smooth and relatively soft. I love the sheen and it has a lot of nice natural character, which should continue to improve the more it breaks in.

The more I wear this jacket the more I love it! It’s very comfortable and I’m very happy with the fit. I’m no expert by any means, but to my eye the quality is far better than I would have expected at this price point.

The other day I noticed that it’s built with minimal panels like my Lewis Leathers Dominator. The back is essentially one massive panel, except for the detail at the top of the shoulders, which is basically the reverse of the Dominator; the Dominator has a kidney panel at the bottom. But what I find interesting, is there are no smaller panels on the sides or on the insides of the sleeves, unlike a lot of jackets that have three pieces for the sleeves and have additional panels between the front and back panels. I’m not even sure if this matters, but I just thought it was interesting.

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks for the review. Jacket looks like a good fit on you. I also have this same jacket and really enjoy the fit and value. My tea core is starting to show.

Thanks! I’m very happy with the fit. I would love to see some pictures of the tea core popping through on yours. How substantial are the arm creases on yours? I’m finding that mine is pretty resilient to creasing.

Like you, haven’t worn much this hot summer. Tea core nothing impressive yet. Elbows do crease, just need more wear time. Looking forward to the cooler temps.

how does Ray Kwok compare to real Simons?

Who makes the best of the best in terms of Chinese jackets?
I have a Ray Kwok deck jacket and it’s up there with the best.

I have a Real Simons jacket on the way. I think these 2 brands are the best from China.

In the attached image of a ray kwok denim jacket note that there are no serged seams. Every single one (including the sleeves) is rolled. To me thats indicative of the brand. Evety stitch and every seam has intention behind it.
