Hot damn. 5/8 ended up 7 5/8 instead of 6 5/8. Lucky! Looks like a great hat. Shame you didn’t win it.My bid wasn't high enough for this to travel to the States and I'm not sure if a Lounger bought it, but I'm putting it in here for posterity.
Stetson Medalist. Late 1930s?

well over a month to be delivered.
This Canadian Open Road was on a slow schooner that got caught in weather going abound the horn…well over a month to be delivered.
5 1/2(+)” open crown and 2 3/4” wide brim. It’s in such great condition that I decided not to crease it. Some foxing on the liner, but the leather sweatband is soft and supple.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you still have to ask that question after everything I've said in these posts, then I simply don't know what else to tell you, for the most part. Look at the keyhole size tags. Look at the numbers on the mfg and reorder tags. They are all of a Stetson nature, besides all I've already said.I like that you’re making the distinction that Stetson is not actually anywhere on the hats. I’m curious why you’re convinced they’re Stetsons then?
No worries Mike, I’m not getting rude vibes at all. There’s a lot of us on here that are overly passionate about hats, and in particular, the Stetson brand.I'm not trying to be rude, but if you still have to ask that question after everything I've said in these posts, then I simply don't know what else to tell you, for the most part. I understand, Ross. I'll just say a last thing. The only reason I bought that 2nd Buckaroo was to try to confirm what I believed about the 1st one. So finding a tag in the 2nd one that matches what's in another Stetson is corroborating evidence to me. Similarly, my 1st hat has a tag that matches the tag in another known Stetson hat. These things are what I call evidence.
I'm not actually calling these hats "Stetson brand" since they're not marked as such. But I've convinced myself that Stetson did indeed make them. That's just my verdict, not made from any emotional attachment. The details, as I see them, don't allow me to draw any other conclusion. But I won't pretend to be surprised that others disagree. By the way, they are both nice hats.Mike, I’m reluctant to say anything, but as these hats were not made by Stetson but another hat maker in Canada and there isn’t any Stetson branding…? I guess I’m saying if it’s not branded a Stetson and we know it wasn’t made by Stetson than it’s hard to call it a Stetson. I wonder if they used old stock of Stetson tags on hats made for someone other than Stetson? I guess it all comes down to what makes a Stetson a Stetson.
Great hats in any case.
