What do you mean "a going concern"?

I bought a pair earlier this year, and I think they're great - the company has shut down, so there are no new ones being produced, fwiw.

Going concern = still in business. That's a shame they're gone; I was hoping to try some of their stuff (not just the boots), but I was waiting to get the chance to travel in person.

Yeah, I bought my boots from HepCat, so there are still a few out there - thanks for reminding us that Sendra made them, and still around.

From what I understand Sendra made the first version of engineers, but the Vultures are made by someone else.

Please correct me if I'm wrong :)
So I don't know, I do not see any specification and their Vulture is only for sale in some other shop that doesn't state where those were made. All the others I've found just say they are made in Spain by a family of shoemakers with over 100 (some specify exactly 104) years of tradition, which seems like a match with Sendra. It also matches Carmina, but they would had probably gone to 140 years instead (or over 130), as well as being far, far more expensive.

Could be, the boots I got are their engineer boots, which retail between $700-$1000 (https://www.hepcat.se/brands/bright-shoemakers) does that align with Carmina prices?
Carmina doesn't have any boot as big, unless you go to women's tall boots, which does align in price. They are mostly in the 500-1000€ range (lower for some shoes, higher for exotic hides which may exceed 4000€).

This said, I highly, highly doubt Carmina did them. Not only engineer boots are completely opposite to the kind of footwear they craft, but most importantly, I simply do not see Carmina making white label footwear for others to stamp their brand on. I personally cannot even picture them doing a collab with another brand.

I was thinking that perhaps Sendra actually made those boots too. I can't think of many other centenarian shoemakers from Spain, and the price increase comes from the materials used (CXL instead of whatever Sendra regularly uses). But there's this description in the Vulture:
The result of a new partnership with a small-scale artisanal shoemaker in Spain close to the boarder of Portugal. The factory counts only 14 workers
So it has to be someone else. Carmina is based in Mallorca, Sendra in Albacete, both far from the border with Portugal, thus we can discard them both when it comes to the Vulture.

Asking AI it throws a place called Valverde Del Camino and a brand called Valverde Botas, but checking their website they have 25 workers so we can discard them. There's some more but they don't have much information.

TLDR: Very hard to tell who does them, anyone's guess is as good as mine.
