I'm sorry, I thought you researched the history of Willis & Geiger M422s before you bought yours. They were standard issue to these guys ....

Here is Tex Hill's jacket, just an hour away from my house at the Museum of the Pacific War.

I'm not expert, fer sher, but i was under the impression it was a G&F. Or so I was led to believe...

Tex Hill was a real stud. Gotta love the full Colonel rank insignia.

I spent time at Ft. Sam and never even made it over to the Museum of the Pacific War. Shame on me!

EDIT: I just Googled the museum....it didn't open under its present guise until the year 2000; long after I left San Antonio.

Tex Hill was a great guy! I would run into him a lot at airshows when I was flying. You could spot him in his AVG Hawaiian shirt with a big smile. We miss him!

Hill`s jacket has the stitch on the pocket,wouldn`t that be a Foster?

Tex Hill's jacket is certainly a G&F M422A. This was a 1943 fiscal year contract and would not have been the jacket he used when he was in the AVG.

Andrew,was G&F the only mfg who did the stitched pocket?I have an old navy jacket that has that type of stitched style on the pocket,it is a 55J14 I believe.thanks Brian

This would most likely be the L.W. Foster Sportswear G-1 55J14 from 1948-9 as it was the only contract apart from G&F in the War to have the stitched pencil slot running right down the left pocket.

I don't know what to think Collars in G-1s are most of the times smaller.

Foster Sportswear and Ralph Edwards Sportswear are my favourite G-1 makers. I like a lot their J-7823 until "C" series.
