After the remake of a detachable mouton collar for my Durable jacket, I thought I could go on experimenting with a new project: a remake of a removable collar for my Californian CHP jacket.
For this model I have 2 original snap on collars one in size 42, another in size 48.
My jacket is a size 48, and has the matching collar. But this one has a grey faded fur and is in worn shape, and I’ve always prefered the golden brown sheep fleece, so here we go, I decided go to this new project.
Last week I visited a huge warehouse dedicated to leather and leather craft, and there I could find the skin I was searching to make such pieces. It’s a nice cowhide with a vintage black satin look, not too heavy, not too light. I also found some snaps silver and golden, to finish the work. Fun fact: the brand is Durable!!
Now I thought I would share some pictures with you.
Far from being a spotless work, I have the feeling the result is better than the previous one. Still, I’m just an amateur crafting on my free time.
Here are some pictures of the steps.

masterising the machine is a long process, but it feels easier, the more I practice…

And here it is!
I’m reasonably happy with the result.
The collar fits the jacket, I think it’s the point ;-)

Friend, you have great eye on machines. I consider the Juki LU563 the king of "walking foot" industrial sewing machines. A big improvement over my Consew 225 and 206rb-1 Your work looks excellent. If you need some 30s-50s dark golden mouton material, please let me know.

WOW! Quite impressive! I'm not sure what the rules are about swearing, so please add the appropriate expletives in all the usual places.
