Aero CR too tight

Hey folks, I have a new Aero Cafe Racer custom from Thurston Bros., my problem is it fit really snug when I got it a few months ago and I thought no big deal,,but thru the belly I can't hardly even get the zipper to catch. I can zip it up but then I'm crushed in the stomach area,,I've put on about 15 lbs. and all in the stomach area with no way to lose the extra from working so many hours. I've only got to wear this work of art twice since it has gotten so hot outside. I was really looking forward to riding when it begins to cool down but doesn't look like it anytime soon. Sooo to my question, is there anyway Aero could let it out on both sides or am I gonna be selling it to purchase another. I could have put a fit pic in here but what's the use, at this point I'm trying to bust out of it at the seams. Thanks

It's worthwhile sending an email to Aero to find out. I suspect with shipping you would be better off selling it. What size is it?

It is not a perishable good in that a year or so properly stored might allow you to get back to your "fighting weight".

It's a 46 with extra length, zipper splay in the front, added hand warmer pockets. I love this thing but over the summer I put on so much weight it's actually almost impossible too zip up. Just tried too send an email to Aero but it wouldn't go thru.

If you bought it through Thurston, I'm sure Carrie could help you with your question re adding larger side panels.

Keep discussing with Carrie. That's too bad as the Cafe Racer is one of thier tighest cut jackets, in a Highwayman you would be swiming in a 46.

It 'should' be possible to exchange the side panels to allow for a little more room. Although this approach does have its limitations, obviously. Probably no more than +1" on either side.
Aero (or Carrie) are the ones to advise on your specific jacket though.

You can't let a leather jacket out in the same way as a fabric one. There's probably less spare material, and the old stitch holes will be visible.

What you'd need to do is take the jacket apart, find leather that's a good match to what it was originally made from, sew it back up (trying to hit the original needle holes), and possibly replace the liner to fit the new size.

I think that it'd be a lot easier, and quite possibly cheaper, to sell the old jacket, and buy a new one.

As for weight loss, that's really down to diet. You'd probably be looking at four months to drop the 15 lbs.

Sell it on eBay, trade it in for a size up, or cut out carbs. Removing panels etc is both work intensive (ie expensive), unreliable as a solution, and unlikely to be successful.

I'd have to agree with the chorus. While it might well be possible, the level of labour you're gonig to need to achieve this would quitel ikely end up costing you as much as buying a new jacket.

...and compare that with what you might be able to pull in on eBay before you jump on the deal, too: bearing in mind that as a trade in will have to be sold as second hand, they're gonig to have to give you less than the going rate.

Thanks for the input folks, looks like I may just be checking into a fat farm, I waited too long for this jacket so I might just die a slow death from strangulation. Although trading or selling might be easier options.

if you think the jacket deserves it , then losing weight is the healthiest and the cheapest route.

Alternatively suck your stomach in, zip up the jacket, and use it as a Chromexcel corset...
