Aero Board Racer Comparison Size 40 v 42

I just received a Navy Vicenza Board Racer that I picked up off Nick123. Honestly, if he told me he never wore it I would have believed it...it hasn't even started to crease in the sleeves!

This won't be a review of the amazing Navy Vicenza leather, I'll do that a bit later as I'm sure there are others interested in the colour etc.

So this new jacket is a size 42 and I'm concerned that it may spell the doom for a few of my other jackets, fit wise in particular my Premier Half Belt. Can anyone confirm they have the same measurements as a Board Racer?

Not a huge difference in the numbers but they do feel very different when worn, probably a combination of the size and the thicker steerhide on the smaller size jacket.

Now I realise they both "fit" perfectly fine but the obsessive compulsive in me is having a field day thinking maybe the 40 looks just that touch too small/tight for a guy approaching his mid 40's and I'd be better replacing it with a 42.

More than happy to hear any opinions, i.e.: if this were you, would you keep them both and be happy or would you drop the cash you will inevitably lose on the switch out knowing it will gnaw away at you relentlessly lol

Jeez Prote not a lot in it from the pics. If you stay trim in middle age you can wear most things. I am 50 a 82 kilos and 187 cm, I've never worked out but there is no flab. I need a 44 in that pattern. I could get into a 42 Aero ok in larger patterns but even then I find them a bit constricting.

a) My sleeves have oddly never creased on any jacket I've ever had and besides, I'm notoriously impulsive, hence my ownership of it for about a month before passing it on.
b) it was worn. You'll notice a minute fingernail scratch or two if you look carefully.
c) Congrats. It looks excellent!

Yeah, I'm really on the fence whether its worth losing about a grand turning it over and getting a 42, there is just so little in it. If someone snaps it up quickly, it will be meant to be, if not, I'll be happy enough keeping it I think.

that 42 fits cool on you, but doesn't the zipper starts a bit low for practicality? can it be worn zipped when sitting?

Both look about perfect to me. As for age and fit...if you stay in good shape, which you have, you should be able to reap the rewards with your clothing. I don't think the 40" looks too tight, the 42" looks a little roomier, mainly at the waist. It's all about the one you prefer to wear.
I'd keep them both.

Can't decide. I honestly would've thought they're the exact same size. Heck, I don't see it even though I know one is supposed to be larger.
The edges of the blue jacket are a bit sharper, the shoulders are more squared but that's about it. Steer is a bit shorter too, right? Honestly, if you can, keep them both. Blue is nice but I think there are gonna be more days you'd want to just wear a brown jacket instead of a blue one. At least I'm like that...

They are both keeper fit, nothing wrong with the size 40.

IMO it is more important how the jackets feel when worn than how they look. Both look great but imagine the 42 feels better than the 40. Just my take on the situation.

Both of them fit, so there is no objective reason for one or another. None of them fits "better", they just fit differently and both fits are viable. It's a matter of personal preference and you shouldn't base that decision on anything other than which one you feel more comfortable in. From what I read between the lines, that is the 42.

I, personally, would pick the 42. Overly fitted jackets make the upper body look so long and thin. Also tight jackets look too dressy for me. I am more into the relaxed casual outfits and a very fitted CR would just look out of place with my wide longsleeves, sweaters, workboots and worn out jeans.

I agree with Carlos; I think you are over analyzing this. They both look good. I like the length of the 40 better, though.

I think both jackets look good, although I prefer the 42. I suggest that you hang onto both jackets for a little while and see how you feel in a month or so. If you find that you really aren't wearing the 40 much at all, then it is probably time to move it on.
I also happen to think that Carlos is right on this one, I don't own any two jackets that fit me this well!

If you stay in good shape you will wear them both. If not some of us will gain weight others will lose weight so you are prepared for both

If you wear the jackets unzipped most of the time you shouldn't feel much of a difference. As others mention before the most important fact is how you feel yourself in the jackets. Some days you like a more comfort fit, other days you may want to wear a tighter jacket for the "badass feel.

And i wouldn't doom your other jackets. The Premier Half Belt imo fits a size smaller than the Board Racer.
