Hello tempesh,
Well, I'm afraid I have not used my boots all that much since I posted here so there's really not much wear in them yet. I didn't want to destroy them, since they are so hard to find these days. I hope you are happy with yours though.
Cheers,
- Mike
*LOL* Yeah, I'm sorry about going AWOL. Sometimes it's good to take a step back and just watch the river flow.
I WILL get the Spitfire done eventually. Modelling has always had it's peaks and valleys for me. Winter is usually the time when it peaks.
I've already posted a picture of some of...
Thank you Sir.
Blast that good memory of yours! :) I'm afraid the K5054 has been put on the back burner for the time being. Other things caught my attention and I've devoted most of the last year to smoking pipes and pipe carving.
Cheers mate,

Hi Jabos,
This lady will never fly again I'm afraid. As you can see from the early photos in this thread, she was pretty badly pranged after the crash. The plan is for her to be restored to static condition and then dispalyed at her former home base at the 21st Wing in Lulea.
Cheers,

Hi guys!
Glad to find this thread still on the front page. :eusa_clap
Work on the P-51 is still very much active but it's been a lot of wings-riveting and such, that don't look very interesting on camera. Two wheels have been secured from the 16th Wing in Upsala, the engine block is being...
Well, I'm no expert but I think the P-51D had 8-spoke rims and the BT-13 and T-6 used 6-spoke rims. However, I'll put the suggestion to the man in charge to see what he says.
Thanks,
/F
Hi Guys!
Here's the latest photo from the project. You might think there's not much new done to the airframe but I can asure you, there is. :)
The grey roundel is the base coat for the SwAF blue and yellow "Triple Crown". The grey "21" denoting the air wing where this Mustang operated...
My Iron Ranger boots arrived today from London. Size 7.5 (UK) was a perfect fit. The reccomendation to go down one full size turned out great. :) Now I have a couple of weeks of indoors wearing to break these puppies in (we still have snow and ice up here and the soles on these boots are as...
Hehehe! Thanks a lot guys!
I was aware that some people consider the Iron Ranger model as somewhat narrow but so are my feet. Worse is if the Redwing boots varies in size so much that some of them are one size too big and others are true to size. Yikes.
Well, I've taken...
Thank you my dear Baron, that was exactly the clear answer I was looking for. :eusa_clap
Yep, I'm ordering the boots from London since they are quite a bit cheeper for me that way. So I figure that I can afford to exchange them if things would go horribly wrong. Well, now I feel I'm as...
I'm ready to take the plunge on a pair of RW "Iron Ranger" boots but getting the correct size has got my head spinning.
I'm a size UK 8.5 and Red Wing boots tend to run large. Problem is that I can't try the boots on since they are not sold here in Sweden.
Contacting the store I got the...
Carter: Real men don't blog! :)
Seriously, I have been toying with the idea of writing some kind of online journal, blog or project homepage. Problem is: I'm not the one doing the actual work on the aircraft and I'm not there watching 24/7, so updates would probably be a bit sketchy and...
Spitfire, I just saw this tidbit of info at Wiki:
"Captain Hans Wind of HLeLv 24, Finnish Air Force, scored five kills in a day five separate times during the Soviet Summer Offensive 1944, a total of 30 kills in 12 days, of his final tally of 75."
