This is interesting.
Can this be part of the reason to why the popularity of the hat has lessened more and more over the last 60 or so years? It fits with cars getting more and more compact over the same period (at least here in Europe). [huh]

Joining the chant: I also like them both ways - Bound and raw. The raw ones often give the hat a more rugged feeling while the bound (and welted ones) feel more "dressy" IMHO.

Hmm... I don't remember exactly but I know it wasn't much.. say 150SEK(that's about $24). Now I REALLY feel bad for not bidding on it. It would have made a nice coversation piece if nothing else. :) The one I saw didn't have the sissors-grip but wooden knobs instead.
