This is fascinating. What an effort. Several Mustangs from my grandfather's unit were sold post war to Sweden, Switzerland, and Italy. This plane flew with the Swedish AF and has been restored with its WW2 markings on the left side and Swedish markings (mostly) on the right:

I have a pic of that Mustang parked next to my grandfather's P-51 in Germany post war. Sadly, my grandfather's went to the Swiss and in '54 a pilot was killed in a crash.
Anyway, keep us updated. Are you restoring it to airworthy status or static display status?
