I really like your work. At the moment I'm a bit over my budget, as I just received a new VS Milan the other day. Serge's new hat, though, is giving me ideas. I'm sure I'll be in touch with you soon. Thank you.
I'm a size 7 7/8 (63 cm.). I'm pretty much resigned to custom hats now, which is just as well when I see most of the products being manufactured by Hatco, etc. Thanks for the sympathy, though.
As this thread started last October I don't know if the original OP is still around, but I've been seriously considering Indy Magnoli's linen suit being offered in the Merchant's forum. It looks very nice and the price is reasonable. I'd be interested in hearing any comments on the suit or from...
Listen to this man. Some styles will suit you and some won't. The only way to know (and save yourself a lot of cash) is to try them on in front of a mirror. The right style will depend on the shape of your face and other factors. Good luck.
Welcome. You made the right decision by getting started with an Akubra: I wasted a fair amount of money before I discovered this forum and these guys. One of the reasons I hang around here is that there's a truly gentlemanly atmosphere in these parts, and it's great to hear people speaking about...
Art has a sale going on right now on the Milans. I just received my new one today and I'm ecstatic (this is my second VS Milan). These are my all-time favorite straws. Jeez, if you're in Medford I'd say you owe yourself a visit. Coming in a close second, though, are Peters Bros.' hemps. In fact...
Thedi makes predistressed leather belts in some really interesting styles. There's a thread on them in the Outerwear section; simply type their name into the search function at the top of the page. Leather Goods Connection are much more reasonably priced, though, but their work is first-rate...
Thedi Leathers in Greece. This guy makes some really extraordinary vintage belts and leather jackets. Also, I've gotten seven or eight belts from Leathergoodsconnection.com. I (obviously) recommend them highly. Nice choice of dress, casual, and ranger belts. If you order from them, go with the...
It always amazes me that a jacket that beautiful is just going to keep on getting better. The best part of it is that the jacket will make you keep the weight off. Just remember: 1 beer = 1 pork chop.
A friend of mine was at the London opening and swore that Vincent Price was sitting in front of him. He claimed that Price giggled throughout the production.
I just got an email from Art Fawcett informing me that my new Milan is going out in the morning. Considering I ordered it on 5/17 and we just finalized the ribbon yesterday, that's what I call PDQ. Always a pleasure to deal with him.
Not that it's any consolation, but we had a brief conversation about this some pages back. That said, I have several straws now, and the only one I'll allow to get wet at all is my Sunbody. We get quite a few unannounced downpours here, and I always make sure I've got a plastic bag in my...
Another Irish author, James Joyce, had one that he wore while studying in Paris around 1902. He refers to it in "Ulysses" as his Left Bank hat. BTW, when Wilde was giving his lecture tour of the U.S. in the 1880's he was very impressed by the outfits he found among the cowboys in Colorado. He...
Whislerm is correct. I grew up in the '50's, and Brylcream was everywhere - literally everywhere. A kid in my class rested the back of his head against the blackboard one day, and the spot remained. They tried everything to get it off, but it was still there several years later. I found, though...
