    Happy 75 to Bob Dylan!

It's really impossible to begin to assess how important and how much influence Dylan has had on this culture over the last fifty-some years. I don't think any artist has been covered by other musicians as extensively as he has, and, it's funny, but some of his songs didn't really hit me until I...

Dare to Dream: Your "Ultimate" Leather Jacket

I wish cars today would come with blondes and brunettes.

You have to go to the "Dress Straws" first, and then scroll down to where it says "Click here to see our custom Milan straws." Then you scroll down and the "Snow white teardrop" and the "Indy brown" are the two Indys, I believe. The site's a bit basic and was the cause of some confusion on my...

My kind of straw; in fact, it looks a lot like my Sunbody 3" brim.

Providing Own Material For Custom Hats

It sounds like overkill. You might wind up looking like a ball of yarn. Variety is the spice of life.

Chamuco, I received my first PB hemp, a black Strat-style with a thin, dark red ribbon, last summer, and have never noticed a black cherry tone to the hemp. Could it be that your larger red ribbon is affecting the way your eyes are interpreting the color? I only ask as I thought your comment was...

Congrats, Chamuco! Both are beautiful hats. I just got my Strat-style back from them yesterday, and it couldn't be nicer. Except for sleeping, It hasn't been off my head. Cheers!

    Vintage horse Vs mule leather.

Wasn't "mule-skinner" a fairly common epithet in the old West? Also, wouldn't the distinction between horse and mule value be obliterated by the death of the animal if its value was based on productivity? (I know I'm on vacation when I'm sitting around contemplating questions like these).

Sierra Sportswear Horsehide Half Belt in Basic Black

Anyone know what that cuff style is called? It reminds me of old military uniforms.

    Sprezzatura vs trying too hard.

And he'll never get there if he ties his sweaters around his neck.

    Sprezzatura vs trying too hard.

Roman Catholic dogma says that if anyone has considered becoming a saint then he can never become one. Perhaps this is a related idea.

The Weight of Shearling Flight Jackets

I thought there was something odd about his grammatical mistakes, as they don't follow any pattern and appear to be made up as he went along. Also, a number of his word choices were distinctly British, such as "cheeky." It's unheard of for someone with little knowledge of a foreign language to...

Anyone have pictures of trimmed Federation IV?

Trimming down the brim, changing the ribbon, etc. I would think that trimming down a brim would be a somewhat hazardous and risky operation. Wouldn't it be simpler just to get a smaller-brimmed hat?

Anyone have pictures of trimmed Federation IV?

Fellows, with all due respect, whenever I've seen threads like this I've always asked myself. "Wouldn't it be easier just to get a new hat?" Stingies these days far outnumber the bigger brims; in fact, other than Akubra and the custom folks, there aren't many larger-brimmed styles available. Is...

Aero Stockman / Cheyenne - with Belt??

Same here. The novelty wears off in about two wearings. A possible alternative is the seldom-mentioned Vanson Model J. It's a longer jacket with a half-belt in the back and two detachable side belts secured by buttons. I've always liked that jacket, and the price is really reasonable.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Thanks. There's one just up the road from where I live. I'll also see if I can order them online. Comfortable? BTW, your comment last evening regarding golfing hats caused me so much tossing and turning in bed that my wife made me get up and change the order. The last time I was on a golf course...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Eric, After considering everyone's comments last evening regarding my new Milan, I decided after all not to go with the Gambler. I hate being wishy-washy, and I especially try to avoid causing problems for others, but when I thought about the money I was spending I thought it'd be best to order...
