There's a good article today by John Cassidy in The New Yorker about why and how the Brexit probably won't happen. It's one of the few sane things I've read. I wouldn't mind hearing some thoughts on it from our friends in GB.
I'd go with Fanch's advice. Mistakes happen, but their offer seems completely reasonable and fair. Besides, in a recent conversation in another thread about the relative merits of Vicenza vs. Shinki, there seemed to be a fairly even split between them. I don't think you could lose either way.
I know what you mean, but they're pretty tough hats and the creasing's a lot easier than you think it'll be. When I got my first open-crown I was afraid I'd screw it up, but I was surprised how easy it was. If it isn't right the first time it doesn't matter: you can just mess with it until...
I'm a Jersey boy myself (Elizabeth) and, yeah, it's no place for leather this time of year. I also have a mother-in-law: last time she came here the faucets ran blood for a week. Enjoy the jacket.
If you don't want to go past $75.00 I suggest you take a look at Sunbody Hats. I got a three-inch brim straw for about $50.00 and wear it all the time. They're sturdy, nice-looking, come in sizes up to an 8, and you can shape them any way you like. Best thing about them, though, is that you...
I'd consider vintage clothing to be dangerous if it made me long for disco. I went to one once but only because I'd met this dancer girl who had the nicest.... Never mind. I wrote a song about it later called, "My Sick Little Dance."
Really fine jacket and fit. Having enough wiggle room for a sweater is, imho, a perfect fit. I'd spring it on the wife asap because, first, she's going to smell it in no time and, second, you don't want to slink around in your own house. Now, here's a question: are you finding the CXL as tough...
I should add, though, that they're so popular around my house that we often have to stop before going out together, and one of us has to change his or her shirt. No kidding.
I am wearing an Armorlux as I type! I bought eight of them in Amsterdam a few years back at a little shop not far from the Leidseplein, four of which were for my wife and four for me. I also have a few more I got in Paris, as well as several of St, James'. They are absolutely my favorite shirts...
Threads about the history of hats are almost always interesting, but whenever I see one I first think of a photo I saw some years ago of a group of U.S. sailors going on liberty in Honolulu in the 1930's. What was fascinating about it was that every single one was sporting his flat-hat in a...
I recently became interested in vintage watches and bought a Swiss "Ancre de Precision Tigre" from the WWII era. Question: is it normal for a manual-wind watch to stop after four or five hours?
I'm not quite sure of the connection between jungle movies and wearing one's collar outside the jacket. That was a very popular look back in the 1930's and '40's and was considered a casual look at the time. I'd imagine it was an extension of wearing one's collar over a sweater, which is...
