I also have a G&B Expedition and can attest to the quality.
Magnoli Clothiers offers a jacket copied from Robert Redford's character Roy Hobbs in The Natural that might fit your requirements. Here's the movie jacket:
and here's Mag's...
I've heard the quality on the Wested can be hit and miss, but I've never read or heard anything bad about the quality of a GB, which is why I chose it in the first place.
So far I've only bought the Indy pants from Wested, and was amazed that they were delivered to my door in Nevada within four days. Ordered Sunday night, delivered Thursday morning.
Here are a couple to tide you over until you order yours. Let me know if you'd like shots of anything in particular.
I'm really impressed with the quality. Just out of curiosity, why aren't you getting your Indy jacket from Wested in UK?
I'm not crazy about brass anything. Any time I buy a new belt I always look for nickel hardware, or buy aftermarket and replace the buckle. I happen to think the nickel contrasts very nicely with dark brown, much better than brass.
Screen accuracy in my mind is another word for analysis...
Just received my Gibson & Barnes Expedition "Indy" jacket yesterday with special order nickel zipper.
Getting GB to take my money was like pulling teeth I'm sorry to say. I had to take the zipper request up a level to a supervisor and had to pay an extra $38 for the privilege. Since I...
This won't be helpful, but I only managed to make it in Florida a year. Born and raised in the west, the bugs and humidity were just too much for me, especially the humidity.
I didn't wear a single piece of my vintage wardrobe the whole year, and I'm something of a clothes horse. No surprise...
I keep my hat on when in a bank, even though they post signs to remove it when inside. I do take my sunglasses off, but that's a practical consideration.
I enjoyed the soundtrack, and I'm happy to have discovered Otis Taylor. Even the more modern sounding stuff seemed to fit with the overall feel of the film.
As far as time period, this movie was a little late for me. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't rent it again, which is how I know if I really like something. The ending was just too depressing.
Of course there were liberties taken with history. This is drama. If you want history watch a documentary, or read one of the many histories like the excellent book the movie took as inspiration, written by Bryan Burrough.
Allow me to offer the first Lounger review.
Saw the first 11am showing here in Reno. I for one REALLY liked it.
Loungers will love the period details like the clothes, the hats, and the weaponry (if you go for weapons). I'm sure there will be details to nitpick, but I really thought Michael...
You run into this in advertising quite a bit. People who don't know the material or the gear put things together that don't really go together in real life.
That's a Thompson, or "Tommy Gun" and they used .45 ACP, same ammo as is used in modern day .45 1911 semi-auto handguns.
Remember what a fuss everyone made about Daniel Craig taking over the role of 007? I think this is more of the same. Give Downey a chance.
I'm a huge Holmes fan and I for one thought the trailer looks very promising. If you read the cannon closely and not just watch the old Rathbone movies...
