I must say, I really prefer the stiffer felt. Dunno why and I cast no aspersions, but stiffer hats feel...... like higher quality to me? For some illogical reason I associate soft with lower quality, but again I'm casting no aspersions on AB's it's just a personal thing. Also, it seems the stiff...
Hello All,
After an impatient year of waiting, I finally received my second Adventurebilt. Question: My first AB, 100% beaver, was relatively stiff. My new AB, also 100% beaver, is really soft to the touch and very pliable. What can I attribute this to?
True story: About four years ago I went shopping for some new suits. Of course I wanted vested suits, but none were available. I was told that aside from being "out of style" that they were considered "old fashioned". Anyway, I happened to be in the store when a representative from Zegna was...
Narration seems to be one of those things you either love or hate. I for one like narration. For instance the first release of Blade Runner with voice over, and the "director's cut" without. I hated the director's cut chiefly because I missed the narration, and for a long time you couldn't find...
I would say that the three piece, or vested suit, already has made a comeback. They're a lot more popular today than even three years ago when I had to special order suits with vests. I mean Justin Timberlake wears one in his new video for chrissakes...
Just wanted to say I found a company that makes great quality boxers, with an old fashioned navy and white stripe:
Mercerandsons.com
They also make great custom shirts!
Great looking hat! It does ride up a bit, but I'm sure a bit of wear will solve that problem.
As a guy who previously lived in Denver, CO. I can attest to the usefulness of western style hats while shoveling snow!
I too am I big fan of the LOTR trilogy, but my first love will always be The Hobbit. Done correctly, two films is just about perfect for the story.
Thank God George Lucas didn't get the rights, he would have just ruined it with his jejune sensibilities....
For the 30's I really love HBO's series Carnivale set during the Great Depression.
For the early 40's I like Foyle's War about a British detective on the force. Michael Kitchen plays the lead, and the Brits really know how to do period drama....all episodes are now available on DVD.
The first Halloween I remember was when I was maybe five or six years old and I dressed up as Speed Racer....
As an adult I'll have to see it otherwise my younger self would be disappointed.
I learned my lesson a while ago: Never take the measurements yourself, never have a friend take them (even though well meaning), always go to a tailor and let a professional do it. If you have a relationship with the tailor they will usually do it for free, otherwise a nominal fee is sometimes...
You're right about the quality going down in the Herbert Johnson poet. Fortunately you found this forum.

They take a standard Herbert Johnson and make the following improvements for a far superior hat...
I received the lid from Steve with the brim up in back. I didn't notice in Raider's that the brim was down, I just thought it would look better with it flat so I steamed it and laid on a hard surface for the night.
I gave the correct measurements to Steve when I ordered it, but despite trying...
I for one would NOT use a publish on demand service (also known as "vanity houses" for catering to wannabe egos). They don't have the respect of the industry ( I worked in publishing myself for a few years) and it would hurt your reputation if you did.
Regardless of how "marketable" your...
