In the Golden Era, were there any suede spectator shoes? I see lots of those today. In fact, most round toed modern spectator shoes seem to be suede. Lots of the new leather ones are either lizard print, hideously colored, or both.
While not exactly set completely in the Golden Era, The Sims 3 has a world based on the 1920's called Roaring Heights. It also adds 20's clothes, and cars, although you can get the clothes individually from a set (I got a shirt and pants from the set). I don't have it, but I might get it in the...
My suspenders do have the option to use the buttons as well, but I am afraid I cannot use them on these pants, as the pants unfortunately did not come with buttons. The teeth on the clips, however, are not metal. They are plastic. They do not seem to damage the pants.
I am wearing my new Aris Allen slacks today. I wore them all last week, and they seem pretty sturdy. I like them. I wish there were more high rise pants. They are my new daily pants.
I have some Wolverine spectator shoes. I just got them a few weeks ago, but I wear them whenever it isn't raining. They don't have any damage whatsoever, however, they got a bit scuffed, but that isn't that big a deal. The soles, are unfortunately made from a very soft rubber, and they have...
While I never met him, my great grandfather, who was from Slovakia, fought for the Germans in WWI. Unfortunately, I don't know much about what he did in the war besides that he was in the German army.
I wonder why there are so many pointless TV shows on about the 1960's, but none about WWI. WWI...
I wore the Aris Allen pants for a week in Cape Cod. They are very comfortable, and are also very breathable. They seem pretty sturdy, after golfing in them, and getting them soaked while running for cover for about 10 minutes by hurricane Arthur. I unfortunately forgot to bring my raincoat, so...
I was away for a week in Cape Cod, and I noticed there were lots of women wearing dresses. Most of them were wearing maxi dresses, but I noticed about half of them were wearing New Look dresses. About 25% of all women I saw there were wearing dresses. Are dresses coming back in style?
A funny...
I actually have fabric paint from ages ago when I was trying to paint blank white silk ties. I gave up, but I remember them becoming rock hard, and didn't bend anymore. Are you supposed to add water to them like normal paints? I wouldn't be painting silk this time, I would be painting cotton. I...
Does anyone know what they used to paint/dye cotton neckties? I was thinking of painting an abstract some white cotton to make a tie with, but I don't know what to use. If I used paint, it would probably crack.
Not sure if anyone is interested, but there is a trolley museum in East Haven Connecticut called the Shore Line Trolley Museum. They were founded in 1945, and have many of trolleys.
Here is their website if you are interested. Shore Line Trolley Museum
I went there when I was 3 or 4 years old...
Oddly enough, I rarely get comments mentioning time periods. The latest one I can think of is when my driving teacher asked if I liked Mad Men. I replied that I don't even watch Mad Men, and I just like to dress retro. Occasionally, I get comments of people saying "You look sharp", and similar...
Why must all spectator shoes for under $100 with classic styling be synthetic? There are thousands of normal wingtips for under $100 with classic styling, that are leather, yet no spectator shoes in the same range with the same stats. And the spectator shoes with completely white tops are not...
The Youtube comment barbarians. I often find them in the comment section on video's which are music. They always tend to be berating either the video, or other people, in the rudest of manners. If you don't like something, don't watch it.
Then I guess this tie clip I have from my grandfather is from the 50's or 60's? It's about 2'' wide.
A funny thing about padded ties, why did they start? I don't see any difference between padded and not padded. The non padded seems more wind resistant, as it seems to blow around less.
When did they start making the ties padded? I have a tie clip from my grandfather that hates being on modern ties. I was wondering if padding had something to do with the difficulty of putting it on modern ties. I don't have the problem with my homemade tie, which is unpadded.
