I personally draw the line at whether or not potential resale is likely to be higher or lower than my cost. I've spent a lifetime collecting, buying and selling vintage American guitars. For most of the last 40 years they have trended upwards, therefore the exit points were comfortable.
About...
My experience has been that it either looks right or its roomy enough to move in like my mall raglan jacket. Not both, at least not in a properly cut horsehide. I bought one that fit correctly, then another one that was comfortable. I sold the first one, then got tired of the baggy look of...
Great jacket Ocean Breeze. I have LW jackets in both 3 and 4 oz leather. Both comfortable in different ways. Lighter drapes more easily and the heavier feels like armor! The heavier jacket doesn't really feel all that heavy once it's on. Break in time about the same really. I wore mine in...
My wife and I are leaving for Seattle tomorrow and I had really been looking forward to visiting the Thurston shop there. Having spoken with Carrie earlier this year about a proposed jacket, I made a courtesy call to let her know I was coming up there.
She called back and left a message that...
Peacoats are incredibly cool. I've been tempted but haven't made the plunge. I did however own a jacket in the sixties in that button style. There is something about that style which is timeless. Thanks for posting pics of all these!
By the way, if you would have told me 20 years ago that I would have this many jackets and be posting on a jacket forum, I would have said you were nuts!
Currently 7 leather jackets and 7 other "serious" non leather outdoor jackets. These include things I have had for 40 years and others acquired in the last year. Everything from a 16 year old soft raglan mall jacket bought new (that I really still love) to an old Levi jeans jacket that I've...
To answer the op's q, my Lost Worlds Easy Ryder is what Stuart says is 4oz HH. It is heavy but comfortable. Not sure I would want to haul around anything thicker or heavier on my back.
There are so many things that can happen on the road with a bike. I have been on the scene when a rider was injured and cut under his arm by a guardrail. Armor would not have helped in that instance but leather did.
I am not against armor and have used it. I'd use it again if I got a sport...
Nice BMW's Jim! I love that metallic blue, used to have one that color!
+1 on Vanson. My race leathers were from them as are my current touring trousers. Don't have any of the jackets.......yet!
Nice jacket Techno!
I notice the label says Ventura.
Are they still there?
I lived there for many years but can't recall hearing about them.
Then again, there's a lot I don't know!
The jacket is I believe 3 oz leather and I think only the pull itself is Crown, however I am not 100% sure about that.
Here is the reason: I recently bought this jacket used and the pull appears to be nickel and the zipper brass. I bought a jacket just like this from Stuart brand new about 15...
Roma , I've had quite a few LW jackets with zippers and only had a problem with one: the pull broke and Stuart sent a replacement, I replaced it and there hasn't been a problem since.
I bought one jacket from Stuart with a Crown pull only, no problem with that one.
Looks like the right fit for an A2. If a proper military repro, they are designed and cut to fit like that. Anything bigger would be a mistake. I've been there, done that and paid the price!
