    Opinions requested...NOT FOR SALE

As I said when Dave put this into the "Alternative Aeromarine" thread, I think the original predated zips, so I would do without the zippered pocket. I also agree with others that buttons on the waistband would be better than snaps:D;)

    An alternate Aeromarine??

Looking good, although, as the originals predate the introduction of zippers, I would tend to omit that zipped pocket;)

    Anyone looking at Groups??

That was the main reason for this thread. Just to get folks to look at them. And it seems to work. As Schitz points out, if folks don't use 'em, they'll crash & burn. But if folks see 'em, maybe they will work. Time will tell.

    Anyone looking at Groups??

The new Group threads that Nathan introduced last month seem to be languishing a tad. Does anyone look at them?:D;)

    Post War Blues, Soul & Rock. 1945 - 1975

Here's a nice slab of earlyish Motown. I first heard this in 1965, on the "Going To A Go-Go" album, although it also got a single release, as the follow-up to "Tracks Of My Tears". She'd stopped appearing with them by then, but Claudette's (Smokey's wife) vocals are very evident on this track...

    Post War Blues, Soul & Rock. 1945 - 1975

Hi PC. It is my understanding that James Wayne & the Nighthawks provided the backing on the track. Unfortunately, I don't have the names of the guys in the band. It certainly does sound like he says "Alright Short" - like you, I know of no harp players with that name[huh]

    My New Goodwear No-Name 42-18246-p

Yup - a great shame. The A2 is the one jacket (because of the woollen cuffs) where sleeves can (for me) be a touch shorter. I prefer that to the opposite, where the cuffs disappear up the too long sleeves in "tunnel" fashion. As Schitz says, it is very sad that what you thought to be your...

    Aeromarine update

Yup, this was an aspect I mentioned in another thread. And I think your reasoning is spot on. I think it would look odd nowadays - but hey, we are supposed to be "accuracy" freaks - so I don't know.... For "civilian" use, I can't really see a need to do up the top button (I certainly never do...

    Aeromarine update

Yeah, that's a real rounded collar isn't it, Ishmael? So just what exactly is your point? That AlexCo got it even MORE wrong?? :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap

    Aeromarine update

Hi Fanch As you know, I like 'em tight, so I deliberately sized down with my Aeromarine. My actual chest measurement is 43", but I went for a 40" in the Aeromarine. I do a similar thing with A2s - but that is just me - I know alot of folks would think my jackets too small, and would prefer...

    Aeromarine update

Rudie - is there a drug available only in Berlin that causes folks to fixate on Peter Pan collars? It's all you seem to talk about these days.....:D;) Let's put this to bed, once and for all. Here is a pic of a Simmons Bilt. I don't give a flying **** what Tanaka describes it as - it...

    Any WRANGLER experts out there?

I guess it depends what you class as "older".... As I said, my first Wrangler was in '67 - and it was skinny (so was I!). I now have a similar one (a couple of sizes bigger), but compared with, say, a Lee 101J, the Wrangler is still skinny. So I guess the one you had has pased me by;)...

    Denim repair in UK

Yup, that's the place. Upstairs, next to the Chop House on the corner. Well worth a visit!:D;)

    customs charges

Fair enough. But the recipient was a fool in my book. There's one born every minute, apparently. The customs duty, as you say is not insignificant. But it is less significant than sending a $600 jacket across the pond with no insurance cover (for that is what understating the value...

    Any WRANGLER experts out there?

VF = VF Corporation - holding company of Lee & Wrangler brands, amongst many others. Was called Vanity Fair at one time. Re the handwarmer pockets - Levi & Lee both went with handwarmers quite late (and ruined two classic jackets), but Wrangler, bless 'em, beat them all to it, introducing...

    customs charges

So I guess you've sold the Ebay jacket to someone in the US, Schitz??????:D:D:D;)

    customs charges

As I said earlier PL - something cheap like a Squier guitar - maybe worth the risk. Risking losing $560 on a jacket - just foolish:D;)
  20. majormajor

    customs charges

And if the guitar had been damaged in transit (and they often are) YOU would have been stuffed. And if lost in the post - no jacket, and you can claim all of $40. Well done Mr VLJ:eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap
