    JV 44

That's a terrific design, John. You're right about the quality. The stitching looks first class and the choice of material is also very good. Looks like an all-around-the-year alternative to the B2 design. Congratulations.

    My new Aero A2 38-1711-P

Coole Joppe, Olli. Wow, that's a nice looking jacket. Aero's 1938 version has always been my favourite among their A2 range. I never knew that they could sew a collar stand in FQHH... Fit, finish, colour...everything seems to be top notch. Edith definitively knows how to make an A2. Especially...

Critique my Aero Long Half Belt order

Hi, if I would order such a jacket today these would be the specs of the jacket. - LongHalfbelt in brown FQHH based on the slimmer 1930s body pattern. NOT on the roomier 1950s pattern. - Slimmed down sleeves. (Popular with Japanese customers) - Button cuffs for period look. Cuffs leather...

Aero 30's HB inside pocket question

That's really an interesting link you posted. Very interesting that Neatsfood is used for the final step and that's it's also recommended as a leather conditioner for Chromexcel.

Aero 30's HB inside pocket question

Go for the pocket in the facing. It's so much easier to access and it looks much neater than a pocket in the lining (which also tends to sag). There's no need for a zip on a M422a style pocket as the actual bag of the pocket is located deeper than the pocket entry. The zip's teeth will also make...

    Seabiscuit "George Woolf" Bootlegger.

Will once mentioned that Aero did not make any jacket for the Seabiscuit film production but he said it could be possible that it was still a slightly altered and aged Aero jacket that was purchased via private customers.

Sorry, Sir J but currently I don't have any pictures of my halfbelt. But I've added two pics of my custom Cafe Racer with mid brown mouton collar. ....And the jacket even has a fake halfbelt:p I am also 6ft- 6ft1 and weigh approx. 155 lbs. The jacket is a size 40 with 1 1/2 inches added to the...

    Aero lining suggestions.

Doublegun, Aero surely offers this service and the finished jacket will not show that the lining has been replaced. The machinists use the original stitching holes when the jacket is relined. A full reline is not overly expensive although I can't give you an exact figure (maybe somebody else...

The body length on your jacket is perfect. I also had an inch added to the body lenght of my hip/waist length Aero jackets (M422a, A2, Cafe Racer, 1930s Halfbelt). Especially if you prefer to wear low rise jeans or baggy cargo pants (I do) an inch added can never be wrong.

Bruce got the juice - Bruce Willis' Jacket

Correct HD!! Another (more mid weight but colourwise very good) leather option would be seal jerky horsehide. Apart from that it's the 1930s Halfbelt with the bits and pieces added that HoosierDaddy mentioned. The common riding tartan is a very good plaid lining option for this type of jacket.

    Aero lining suggestions.

You will find that Alpaca really might be too warm for Spring or Summer. Alpaca fleece is also notably thicker than cotton or tartans which gives you less room for layering. From my point of view cotton drill or olive Gabardine is the way to go if you are not looking for a specific cold weather...

That's indeed a very good looking jacket and a great photo as well!

Why all the hatred towards black leather jackets?

Nice story Corky! Glad you got rid of that Trenchcoat. In Germany a black leather trenchcoat would more or less indicate that you have either a weak spot for Nazi/SS ideas or you still like The Matrix very much. Re Black vs. brown: Brown suits my general style of clothing much better. I don't...

Why all the hatred towards black leather jackets?

For me personally black only looks good on jackets that have a motorcycle background (they don't have to be real motorcycle jackets though...). A 3/4 length jacket like an Aero Cheyenne for instance would dominate your wardrobe too much when it's black. Plus brown is easier to combine with other...

    Red Wing Engineer Boots

Crepe is the way to go. The most comfortable material for outer soles ever! The edge of the outer sole can easily be toned down by black boot polish or black varnish that's been used for dying the cut edges on hand made or restored/resoled shoes. Any shoe repairer can sell you a small amount or...

Help me order the perfect A2 from Aero !

Yes, and yes, and yes! :p No, im Ernst, a collar arrangement with collar stand is more difficult to make ...some enthusiast would even call it sophisticated but it's defintively a trademark of the early pre-war contracts. I personally like it but due to the cotton "lining" of the stand...

Help me order the perfect A2 from Aero !

Hi, I don't see why I should be of more help than others on this forum. And by no means I am an expert on A2s. When it comes to this wide field of research it's fair to call me only a novice or something similar... Obviously your are looking for a utilitarian jacket with A2 looks...

1940's Original Leather Belt Back Jacket.

Beautiful looking jacket. And the pocket flaps are just über-cool. The overall conditions and fit are just remarkable. That is a very good find, Sir.

My Vanson Comet in brown horsehide

Hello and welcome to this crazy place! Great looking jacket you have. I never thought a Vanson would be that tailored and trim fitting...the overall fit is indeed very european. The leather looks very good. Some nice creases and folds on the sleeves and the surface already shows some minor...

What Aero lining in the summer

Before you order I would really consider Aero's olive drab Gaberdine as a lining option. It is as durable as cotton drill and probably offers the same ability to breathe but it's much smoother than drill due to the way it is woven. I had a Cafe Racer with cotton drill lining and whenever I wore...
