1966 Pea coat
That's called "trapunto stitching" which stiffens the collar slightly. Makes sense when you turn your collar up in bad weather. Also to be found on all M422a jackets.- JanSolo

Although Aero's own branded zipper is an excellent choice in terms of quality and durability, I am not too convinced by their antique finish. It looks cheap to my eye. Hi Zaxxon, if it's one of the original issued German Airforce jackets the hide does have a ridiculously thick spray finish. It feels almost like plastic and will never break in.
