Romanian Fashions in the mid-20th Century

In the novel Slaughterhouse Five the protagonist(presumably based on Kurt Vonnegut's own experiences) is captured by a group of German soldiers in the Ardennes, one of which is a teenager wearing clogs. I wonder how well they function? I can't help but think that they are very uncomfortable

Also: I like the girl with the tie, making a statement amidst conservatism.

Romanian Fashions in the mid-20th Century

Some of the shoes are in pretty bad shape. Kind of funny that some people seem to be wearing their Sunday best with two lumps of clay for shoes.

Romanian Fashions in the mid-20th Century

But I think it is fascinating to see what everyday people wore, not just Cary Grant or Gary Cooper. Sometimes those who deviate a bit from good taste can be unexpectedly original and creative. There is no subtlety in some of those peak lapels, but plenty of flair.

Where to find high waisted pants for under $75

1930s-1940s trousers and 100% polyester are a bit of an oxymoron... You can have the right cut but it won't have the right texture, color or feel... best to focus on quality. Before you know it you will have wasted a decent amount of time and money on 'almost but not quites' when you could...

    Hair cuts

I remember people around here and on other forums joking about the 'girls will want to run their fingers through your hair' brylcreem line, claiming that no one would want to touch such greasy hair. However I find this is only the case when you apply a big glob of it on dry hair. If you have...

AERO One Off Halfbelt - Jacket Porn - Pics!!!

Awesome. Funny how it looks a bit 'over the top' on it's own, but looks perfect worn. Your pics reminded me of a couple of photographs from the Spanish civil war:

Agreed, although personally I like cuffed trousers to have no break. As to the baggy trousers vs tight jacket, I enjoy the contrast, but it's definitely not for everyone.

    Spear point collar shirts

Love the first one. By a happy coincidence, the third shirt I ordered from Natty has a similar shorter curved collar.

spearpoint collar shirt repro collar 16, chest 40/41

Hello all, this is a shirt I had made over at Natty shirts, I never wear it so I am selling it on. It has a nice collar copied from a photo of a 1930s French work shirt. It is otherwise a modern slim fitting shirt. 16 inch collar, will fit a 40-41 inch chest £15...

Hello all, some of you may have seen my post on What Price Glory's high waisted khakis. Well, they are very nice, but a bit too tight in the waist for me, so am selling them on. Learn from my mistake! :) Make sure you measure yourself under the ribcage to determine if they will fit. These...
