    The Open Road Guild

I just found this '60s Open Road. I gave it a bath and reshaped it to my liking. First time using naphtha. It was a weird feeling to pour liquid on a vintage hat but it was really dirty with bad stains. I was also surprised when it dried with zero odor. Cool. My first vintage OR that fits. I...

    Post New Hats Here!

If I'm seeing it correctly, that is not a snap brim. Also not sure when Stetson started putting on those little JBS branding iron pins on their hats.

jskeen, that doesn't look like the same hat. You have a knack for shaping. I have a very similar Stetson. It is not very old--my brim was so stiff when I shaped it that I think it fractured a tiny bit (only I, and now all of you, know about it so no big deal). The 7x felt on the crown however is...

    Hatless

Another hatless shot of me braving the sun. I'm standing at the end of the infinity pool... not sure if that's possible but there you go.

    Hatless

Haha. You know, we did take a private yoga lesson on the estate that we rented our cottage at. It was painful yet fun. I am sitting in a hilltop restaurant that we hiked to in the pic.

Frank, looks like you still know how to throw an outfit together. Great, classy hat.

Nice pic Worf. You look like you're enjoying yourself. It's good to love what you do. Me without a hat, hiding from the Costa Rican sun.

The Non Shorpy Web All Stars.

This photography shop has a great group of local images for sale called the "Resurrection Collection". I did not know they had images from NY and Chicago. http://www.magicphotoart.com

Popping Stitches - The Most You've Stretched a Hat

I had a fedora made, but it was too small. After years of storage without much wearing, I used a combination of cutting the stitching on the sweat and storing it on a "hat jack" stretcher to make it somewhat wearable. I've noticed that hats seem to retain "memory" and want to go back to their...

    Post New Hats Here!

David, yes, I would wear the heck out of that in the summer months but what can ya do? It has the Marathon sticker in the crown but has Towncraft embossed on the sweat. I really love these old Penney's hats. The fact that you could stroll into the store and pick one off the shelf for six bux...

    Post New Hats Here!

Robert, both of those are awesome. I would love to find hats like all of yours. My wife brought home some size 7 hats for me. I'm a 7 3/8 so these will be properly photographed soon along with an OR, a Wormser, a Dobbs, and some others I don't fit. Ok...a sneak peak at this new lot of oldies...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Che, great dad pic. Me at an auction the other day. The day prior, my wife bought some small hats for me that I will sell sometime soon when I get the time. All size 7 -- too small for me. I've got a few more small ones now that I think of it.
