I had been interested in the Parker Duofold Centenial and matching ballpoint in pearl and black and just received them yesterday from Fountain Pen Hospital. They had them on a pretty good sale. I like the very light bright pen as compared to most of my dark pens.
Those Swiss backpacks are extremely well made. I have one and it's probably much larger than Jerekson wants or needs. On the down side it is extremely heavy. Mine was designed for the 1930's -60's ski troups, it has a tapered tube sewn in through the flap down through the inside of the pack...
My new Open Road 20X from Paris Hatters. Man that thing is nice and soft. Absolutly no problem in snapping the brim down. I have a 4X I got last fall and that thing is stiff as a board and the only way to snap the brim is to wet or steam it to a permanent position. The liner on th 20X...
I saw this thread and checked out the Allen Edmonds and ordered a pair of the Dalton's in dark chocolate. They are on sale right now, about 20-25% odd list.
Cannot compare to a 10X but the finish one this 20X is much smoother and finer looking than my Campdraft Deluxe. The felt feels thinner and denser and is very soft. I do not have a scale that would give a good weight comparison, if that would mean anything, but the Stetson feels a little heavier.
I just got my 20X from Paris Hatters.
It looks like any other OR but is much softer. I can easily snap the brim down. I got a 4X last fall and it's so stiff the only way to snap the brim is to wet or steam it.
I wear a 7 1/4 and most fit good, this one is a little loose but will probably...
Stetson makes some nice hats, mostly western and pricy, but the Gun Club model does not fit this category.
My Campdraft and Campdraft deluxe seem far nicer than the lower end Stetson's, so my vote is for the Campdraft. A plus for it is that it comes open crown so you can shape it like you...
Texan
The gentleman I mentioned did not live in poverty. In fact he had one of the nicer houses in this very small town, more a villeage. He supplemented his city marshall income by also doing limited patrol work/coverage for both the parrish sheriffs dept and the state police. He also had a...
We have an old family friend who retired as a city marshall in a small north Louisiana town, probably back in the late 70's . He usually wore khaki trousers, plaid shirt, roper type boots and an Open Road type hat. He hated wearing a gun so usually laid it on car seat and only put it on when...
Considering I have two Campdraft Deluxe in Silverbelly, different bashes, and one in Bluegrass Green and other styles in the Heritage Fawn, I will sit this one out. As My wife says, where will I put them all.
Thanks for all the heads up. Guess I am out since Hats Direct is listing in in Moonstone now, so will put that on the back burner for a while. In the meantime I decided on a Stetson 20x Open Road from Paris Hatters in San Antonio.
DougC-- I'm pretty sure of that. I just wish I were a bit closer, but it's about a 6 hour or little more drive down there to try them on. One good point, Abe said he would form it to a long oval for me.
They look to be something in the 30 caliber range, most probably military. The price is rather outrageous. You could take a pair of old cufflinks and a couple of bullets and solder or have a jewler do it for probably less than 1/10 that asking price.
Never smoked, and drink very little, I like to maintain all my senses so usually it's a limit of one. Food is sometimes hard to fight, I like good food!
Now, hats, razors, fountain pens and nice guns are another story altogether!
