That's great. Only nephew I have is over in Ga, and he has had some drug problems with the law, including some jail time, so even if he were close, I don't think I would want him with my guns. My only grandson will be six the end of the month and is not calm enough to trust, even watching...
That's the way I feel about my little 342. If I lived where something large like bears or big cats might be a problem I would probably get one of those lightweight 44 mag's also. Would probably shoot it some with 44 special loads, then load with mag loads for carry.
No mountains nearby, heck the highes point in La is 500+ feet above mean sea level, and that's about 40 miles west of where the bear was found. He most likely came from the management area which is sometimes swampy, or possibly the low roiling hills to the northwest.
If that's the M 329pd in 44 Mag at just over 25 oz, I don't want anything to do with it. I have a little 342, j frame double action only with the scandium frame, titanium cylinder like that one in .38 special and it hurts. I just cannot imagine that light of a gun in 44 Mag.
I actually live in E. Texas, so have a better chance here. My sister and I kept my deceased parents house over in W. Monroe, La ( north central), and about 3 years ago while we were a small black bear was spotted in a residential back yard, about a block off of old US 80, just behind a...
Well I am finally having my hopes and dreams come true. I had placed and order and deposit for a little micro Mauser CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel about 4 months ago. Recently I had noticed that several on line dealers hade them in stock, and called one to verify, and this one with whom I had made a...
Mine has a red ventilat red recoil pad, sling swivels and the Weaver scope is in a on piece Redfield mount. The receiver also appears to have been D/T for a receiver sight. Considering that it's a bit over 60 years old, around ten years younger than myself, it's in good shape. Has a rather...
I just pulled my Territory out and it is lined. I checked specs on David Morgan and another site and they say lined also.
Someone commented that the wool hat from Longhorn might be hot, I just do not see the logic in that. Beaver fur, rabbit fur or wool, the are all warm.
When I got my...
Nice, That Savage looks like one I lucked into at a gunshow about ten years ago, also in .300 Savage. Mine is an EG model as that one appears to be, and I think about a 1957 vintage. It came with a Weaver K4 scope with one of the Lee dot reticules.
Looks nice, a flinter. I have a little .36 cal Southern Mountain rifle, flintlock. They are a lot of fun and takes a different state of mind from shooting a modern rifle, especially with follow through, and learning to ignore the flash and slight delay.
I have an elderly aunt that has a 22 bullet embedded in her brain, as was shown on an x ray some 30-40 years ago. Back in the early 1930's when she was an infant, some sisters had her outside on a porch when I was told she started crying and a spot started bleeding a little, then she stopped...
I disagree with one part. Western is big in the south. I live in E. Texas, still a part of the south, grew up in N Louisiana, and have a son and sister in Mississippi. I see more western type hats than our fedora's in the areas I visit.
I started by wearing some of the better Tilly sport...
Nothing to show, but I "bit the bullet" so to speak yesterday, and placed a deposit and a pre order for a CZ 527 mini mauser in 6.5 Grendel. I had thought abut rebarreling one of the 7.62 cal rifles, but would rather go new factory. The nearest dealer called and found out that only 300 rifles...
Nice, I picked up what I think is an EG model in 300 Savage some years back at a Tyler, Tx gun show. The show was really a bust, not many vendors showed up, due to bad weather and a very big show going on that same weekend in Houston. Mine is a late 1940's vintage, and was well used, and not...
I have two, a Darne and a Charlin. The Darne has a bolt that rises inside the sliding breech and enters a hole in an extension from the barrels, thus locking it very securely. The Charlin lacks this, the lockup being an over center position of the toggle. My Darne is a 28 ga, very light and...
Some of the Engish are great. Belgium and French can be also, I especially like my sliding breech French guns. Swedish are also nice, I have an old Husqvarna Lefaucheux sidelock, not the greatest where the metal forearm is a lever which turns to the side to open the action, then another...
