The main clue that shows this is definitely not a '40s jacket are the lapels, they're very high, oddly shaped and lack a buttonhole. I have learned that center vents indeed existed on belted backs prior to the '60s and I have also seen examples of '60s belted backs that have pleating and such.

A rare piece indeed! It has a center vent, which I thought wasn't put onto double breasted jackets until the 1960's.

After graduation at Radio City Music Hall, wearing my 1935-1945 era suit and '40s silk tie...
Really? 7 1/8th is my size and I was actually planning to bid on it, but I got distracted and when I saw the winning bid later, I was shocked at how much people someone would pay for a cap.

Really nice good condition '30s/'40s 8 panel work cap. Starting bid was $25 with the winning bid an astonishing $294.99.
For my upcoming graduation, I got my first ever vintage suit. It doesn't have a union tag, but it's cut, style, high button stance and button fly says the 1935-1945 period to me.
That's a nice selection, though I'm surprised they're hard to find. The picture I posted is actually a recently made pair my friend bought from his eye doctor, I figured someone here in the U.S. had to still be making them.
