I'm chiming in on this one a bit late but my own experiences with Aero - which were a few years ago - couldn't have been more positive. I bought an old Irvin jacket from them which didn't fit and so they took it back without a quibble. And then they copied the old one for me. I had a few long...
We're losing the WW2 generation, and it seems like only yesterday that they weren't even middle-aged. The war still doesn't seem like 'history' to me, though. It's too recent for that.
I made an impulse purchase of a really nice Eastman Leather G-1 - ironically, it was sent from California, when I live less than 5 miles from ELC - I don't even want to think about the carbon footprint
It ended up being a size too big - it's a 44 - and it's already gone to a good home...
Nice boots! They certainly look like Aviakit/Lewis Leathers.
Could have done with Noel Edmunds' grinning mug, though... that barnet has haunted me for years.
Almost the end of my grand spring cleaning: a piece of almost too genuine American workwear in the form of a very well-used Filson tin-cloth jacket and a British Army leather jerkin dated 1945.
The Filson is style 64 which they don't make anymore, basically an unlined field coat in a size 44...
Up for sale, something I know almost nothing about, except that it's a man's waistcoat, very obviously handmade, dating almost certainly from the last half of the 19th Century. The only identifying mark on it is stamped on the buckle: "Prima France."
It's of some sort of cotton dyed with...
Up for sale: my 1960s vintage British Motorcycle Leathers cafe racer jacket in blue. These Canadian jackets are becoming quite sought after. I bought this from Dave Hillel (http://vintageleatherjackets.blogspot.com/) a couple of years ago. Selling to fund new purchases. It's a really sharp...
It's big in Japan, as they say. Check out Sugarcane, Buzz Rickson etc etc. Hinoya, I believe, ships to Europe: http://www.rakuten.ne.jp/gold/hinoya/
And there's a guy in the States selling repro chamray work shirts on ebay for under $30 - do a worldwide search for 'chambray shirt.'
And for...
I was going to say 'check out the punk shops down the King's Road,' and then I remembered I was thinking about 30 years ago...
Ah, well, at least Punx Not Dead. Undead, possibly.
Hmm. I used to find these quite easily in the States, but here... Try a haberdasher's - perhaps one of the ones on Berwick Street (if you're in London) or a trawl around Camden. An ebay search for chrome spots or nailheads might turn up something, though probably in the US. Or else you could buy...
Speaking of elasticated sides...
Another jacket by Irvin Foster from the 1940s (apparently) with elasticated sides here:

Looking at the title of this thread I thought the 'Seabiscuit' reference was just a snide word for horsehide - quite a few years ago I had a hh jacket that was referred to more than once as 'Shergar...' (Shergar being a famous racehorse who was kidnapped/horsenapped in 1983 and disappeared for...
What a cool story - and a brilliant jacket.
Irvin Foster made G-1 flight jackets for the US Navy in the 1960s. There's an extremely nice one here: http://moorecustom.com/jackets/G-1_7823A_IFoster_42.htm. Your jacket looks older, though - 50s at least, and the Conmar would back that up.
