    Field Leathers

It makes sense to revamp the website as he is adding new military styles. Some kind of grouping and differentiation between civilian and military will be needed. Also have you asked him why he is dropping Michigan? As you said the design in the back is unique. Personally I like my arches a bit...

The Real McCoys '30s Cooper Jacket in "Black" Horsehide

Nice jacket and fits you very well! And clearly it is not black but nice dark brown. The printing is only visible close by. Maybe rmc tried to make it look like a goatskin?

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Interesting color. Looks a bit burgundy to me in the outside light. Is it Shinki seal?

    Field Leathers

It looks to me as well that he tried to match the height. I think that design will look better if you keep the straps but lower the bottom band both up front and in the back. That said I do applaud Greg for willing to take design risks.

    Schott x Shinki Jacket

I wasn’t aware that ogawa gets their hide from Shinki. Is it processed in some way before ogawa gets it or just raw?

    Schott x Shinki Jacket

Yes, at certain point it is a matter of the preference. But I hear that the raw hides like all other raw materials are graded and sold based on imperfections, etc. Also the level of processing is important. E.g. simple quick chrome tanning is not equivalent to chrome tanning process in the...

    Schott x Shinki Jacket

So which tanneries offer as good or better product than Shinki? I'll start off by saying Ogawa for cordovan leather.

    Current Goodwear lead times

When I chatted with John in July, I suggested that he establishes web based official and transparent waiting list. So after you pay deposit you get on the list and you can check where you are. Instead I think John aims to hire an assistant/jacket enthusiast who can communicate such status and...

    Current Goodwear lead times

John told me that as he is working through some personal and business challenges and he brought his wait time down to 12-18 months. In my case as he is making a replacement jacket that somehow got lost my wait time will be about 6 months after agreeing/discussing the replacement. I did ask him...

    Himel "The Imperial"

I'm shocked that they would send out the jacket with the reversed cuffs like that. I hope that Himel will accelerate the jacket remake for you. Also you may use it as a chance to adjust the jacket if any other things like fit were not to your liking.

    Y'2 Leathers

Informative post. So where Y'2 sources the horsehide leather from? Also who makes the leather jackets for FWs?

Best Metal For Snap Buttons On A Leather Jacket

    Y'2 Leathers

I didn't mean to imply that Shinki horsehide or all Shinki horsehides are/perform better than other high-end hides. Some Italian horsehides are highly regarded and expensive. Also there are different Shinki hides and grades see -https://hashimotoindustry.com/en/customer_cat/shinki_hikaku/...

    Y'2 Leathers

So are you saying that Y'2 leather doesn't use the same quality horsehide as does e.g. Freewheelers? I was wondering about this too considering large price difference. This most likely is the case as high quality horsehide is very, very expensive- retail $260+ USD per one Shinki hide. Also...
