Cossack pocket design

What do you think about this cossack's handwarmer pocket design: Slanted flap pockets instead of the more commonly seen square patch pockets (Which are pretty much useless imo).

I like the flap, but that angle is useless! They need to at least be 45 or 30 degrees. The Orugeil is nice with only the flaps (flat) and the pocket in the liner.

I myself voted for slanted pockets. Why? I think esthetically square patch pockets look better. I have a cossack with square pockets and they really complete the look imo. Only thing is, they're useless. I really like to stuff my keys into the handwarmer pockets but with patch pockets, it just looks bad. It makes them look bulbous and I'm afraid the leather will stretch and I'll end up with saggy pockets. Long story short: I prefer slanted pockets

The Orugeil does look good indeed. I like how they included stitch lines to outline the pockets.

I pefer the slanted pockets by far. I've always thought those little patch pockets look too dainty and largely pointless. I also find this pattern generally features too many buttons - 10 - if they are also on the pocket flaps. I pefer this pattern with a zip.

Slanted hand warmer pockets, no flap. I have a nice cossack with the patch pockets which are probably historically accurate but they are useless.

Slanted, no flat. Anything else lacks practicality to me, though it can look good. I'm not a huge fan of hand-warmers so I prefer them to be as discreet as possible.

I don't need handwarmer and looks unnecessary on such short jacket anyway.
I like slant pocket more than horizontal hopefully deep enough to carry phone without the corner of the phone sticking out. patch pocket usually not deep enough since the patch is above the waist band/ belt panel along the hem, but slash pocket with pocket bag inside can be bigger and deeper inside the liner.

Thank you for your votes. I was eying this jacket as it was listed on a local online marketplace. Like new condition. I wasn't sure about the pocket flaps at first but your votes were helpful on deciding. I just bought a new Thedi
Will be delivered next week. The numbers look promising, let's hope it will fit.

I only have handwarmers for the look of them on many jackets.... never actually use them. Those angled ones with the flap - very Baracuta G9 / Harrington, btw - look like a nice alternative to the patch pockets. Pobalby wouldn't ever put much in either as long as there's an internal pocket for my wallet and field telephone.

You must have pretty sturdy inner pockets if you can put one of these in there (This is what came up when I googled field telephone)

I've had a couple of the Levis jackets and the patch pockets were great for my previous phone (no inside pocket) annoyingly its replacement is about 1cm too tall to fit. I liked those pockets for that.

Have another with the slanted pockets and don't tend to use them as I always worry about things falling out. I agree the flap pockets just look like harrington pockets to me and don't feel 'correct' for this jacket somehow even though I'd probably use them more.

- Always wonder with those Thedi inside pockets, is the pocket a normal shape inside or is it the same shape of the triangular leather?

I vote slanted pockets, but with deep bags & the opening set at something closer to a 30° angle rather than 45°, making it less likely to lose items when seated.

It's a square deep pocket. The triangular shape is for show

Ha! yEah.... It's a term I've fallen into habitual use with after spending so much time on the Chap scene, but my actual handset is rather less exciting, if easier carried around....

In terms of inner pockets, I'm seriously thinking of getting something like this to solve the issue of my phone and wallet always being to hand:

Only problem is that I know all too damn well that as soon as I have one, I'll want another. You know, black to go with black boots and jacket, brown with brown..... Seriously considering it as an option for travel, though - security, and avoiding a jacket on a hot day. Like a sort of stylish alternative to the old bumbag ("fannypack", I believe, in US English)....
